I first saw this great lady in a video of Carmen opposite Mario Del Monaco and her performance was riveting and her voice fabulous. Her Carmen ranks amongst the strongest ever. I then heard her in a variety of music and came to really admire and respect her. Great artist too little known in the West. R.I.P.

@gvetere Thanks. I'm hearing from others that it is wrong to attribute this song to Cuccini. There is a faint suggestion on the Wiki page that says some of the song structure might be from Cuccini. Like I said, I don't know much about opera. Does it often occur that songs are fraudently attributed to the wrong composer?
@euqip No, the style of great composers is unmistakable. If you want to have an idea of the music of Giulio Caccini, you'll find a lot of clips here on youtube
@gvetere Thanks again, for the info I'll take your advice. Like I said I'm trying to learn a little something about opera. I'm retired and have spent most of my life loving music, mostly popular. I've stumbled on to some beloved arias and now know that there is something in opera that has kept it alive for 500 yrs. I've watched a YouTube of Angela Gheorghiu singing "Un Bel Di Vedremo" on stage too many times to count and it gives me the chills every time.
