  • @jamare456 Dude... X was born in OMAHA! He grew up in Lansing!

  • Michigan state is the pride of the state of Michigan!!

  • honestly...really? it's an hour and a half from Detroit. I live in metro detroit, takes me 50 min to East Lansing and 30 to Detroit. and no is not closer to GR. what a stupid comment.

  • Michigan State isnt in Detroit.....

  • He says "the larger community"

  • no its not, are you fucking retarded

  • I've been a u of m fan my whole life and i want to see state kick the shit out of lawson and the tar heels more than anything

  • I'm a Wolverine, but heck, great job MSU.

Definitely more than just a game.

  • thank you

  • Apparently redwings191420 is a UM wannabe... This video shows the true spirit of Detroit!! GO GREEN!!

  • Crazy me, I thought it was just a basketball game.

  • well you got the first part right, but it is wayyyy more than a basketball game, you have no idea what it is like here in MI

  • People... as much as I'd like to see Detroit (and Michigan) recover economically, this is only a basketball game. It'll earn a few (mostly wealthy) people money for a few days, then it's back to *no* business as usual.

Indeed an MSU win might lift the spirits of a lot of people but it will do little to actually have an impact on the economy. (It might increase the chances of getting big bucks in the NBA for a few, but...)

I'll be rooting MSU on this weekend. But still... it's just a game.

  • okay it is a game, but so was the 1980 miracle on ice, and so was the 1998 Stanley cup finals, but it is the spirit of a state that is really here, it is way more than JUST A GAME

  • True, it is just a game. However, it was played in Detroit, people spent their money at restaraunts, hotels, merchandise stores, malls, etc. This Final Four just had more spring with a hometown team in it. The bottom line is that 20-30$ million dollars was pumped in Detroit and the fact that MSU made it, probably pumped in a few million extra. This goes beyond a basketball game.

  • As I noted previously, the bulk of the money that was "pumped" into Detroit likely didn't go to people who actually call Detroit home.

What long-running impact have the two Super Bowls played in Detroit had?

Everybody involved with the Final Four tournament (players, coaches, media, CBS Sports) likes to talk up the idea of what a good thing it is for the city, but really, when all is said and done, you're not likely to see any of them doing much for the city once the circus has left town.

  • @detroitrockcity8 Yep,i agree and no other college team in the state could do what MSU has done!

  • Hey redwings191420, don't be jealous that you couldn't get in

  • ..... dude you are just making yourself look like a prick

  • Why would they not care about the state they currently live and go to school in? If they didnt care about this state they wouldnt be playing at MSU right now. They both had other offers (in Roe's case he could have gone anywhere he wanted) but they picked MSU. You are a prick.

  • Go STATE, beat the Huskies

  • This video pumps me up so much

  • GO GREEN! GO WHITE! LET'S GO STATE! <3

  • This is sooo cute :) I love my Spartans! GO GREEN!

  • For Delvon Roe and Travis Walton who are not Michiganders to help rally our people behind them, speaks volumes of how much they care and how badly they want this title to share not just with their teammates, but the residents of Detroit and those of us in Michigan. If that doesn't convince you to get behind them, then MOVE THE HECK OUT OF MICHIGAN!

  • Detroit has relied on its sports teams for many years to bring us together. MSU making the Final Four in our own backyard can help bring this great city, my beloved state, somewhat out of these tough economic times. People are losing their jobs, homes and lives. However, we are still willing to put our money on something that can give us hope; hope that the light at the end of the tunnel is close. The players not from MI want this for us, WE need this for us and our families. GO GREEN BABY!!!

  • Go MSU. lets hope that they get to the championship this year. That would be great!

  • at 1:37 what is that building

  • its the old train station. use to be a wonderful building but then it fell apart.

  • As someone said - it is the old train station. It did not fall apart on it's own. There was an article sometime ago about how some of the beautiful artifacts (lights, marble, etc) were showing up for sale in the after market.

  • From what I understand, the owner of the building, M.J. Moroun (Controlled Terminals Inc., his other company, Detroit International Bridge Co., owns the Ambassador Bridge) simply refused to do anything to the building when it still was worth renovating. Detroit's City Council voted just a few days ago to have the building demolished.

  • Yes - this is the time to back this team more then ever. Weather you are a fan or not if if you live in Michigan this should be your team this weekend. They play and fight the way our city has always done. They we're counted out and down like our city has been so many times. As they survived and proved others wrong so will Detroit. Go Spartans and thanks to Coach Izzo and the team. Become legends....

  • There's only been a few other times when Detroit, and Michigan for that matter, has needed a champion....such a time exists right now.

Amazing when sports becomes a symbol for so much more.

I compare this Spartan team to the 1968 Tigers, who brought the city together after the 67 riots.

  • awesome video

  • Thank you Tom
