you can say this and that about the host and the set. but the "real" problem here is the music. if they kept the original theme, it would be worth watching, no matter how the set looks. this music sucks and not as progressive...
Some of the clips used in the opening credits were not only taken from the series but were also taken from the 1993 pilots as well as the daytime version.
Drew Carey could take a few hints here. Doug Davidson may have been over the top sometimes, but at least he had an idea of how to build up suspense. Drew's been doing the show for almost 5 years now and still has trouble doing that.
There was one episode where after the lady lost a pricing game or something, she said "shit," you couldn't hear it but you saw it, and in response, later on, when she lost the showcase, Doug covered her mouth as a precaution.
@VitaminC5383 I think Drew Carey himself expected the inevitable comparisons to Bob Barker when he took on the job.He should have also known ratings would fall too.
@VitaminC5383: I totally agree. Doug Davidson was a hell of a better host back then in 1994 than Drew Carey is right now. In my opinion, Carey is just treating this as if it was just another hosting gig, etc. Like he's just doing it for the money. But neither Doug Davidson nor Drew Carey can ever replace the great Bob Barker!! :-)

I swear at 3:44, you can hear an audio ramp-up that is from canned applause. Was it so bad that they needed fake crowd noise????

Dang, I've seen two episodes already where Doug makes audience entrances including this one! I wish Drew could continue doing audience entrances...

I think it's time there was a website started on how disappointing Drew Craey really is , I know ratings for Drew are really starting to fall.

It's a shame that this edition of TPIR was so short lived. Syndication can be a godsend or devilish! Drew sucks big time! Get Mr. Davidson back!!

@269848 I didn't get this on any of the network affiliates I had access to at the time.

@jhzenor61481 I sure do,and YouTube has sure been a godsend.

@jhzenor61481 The problem with syndicated programming is that not everybody will get all the programs.

@269848 Doug Davidson should have been Bob Barker's replacement from Day 1.Then again, his plate was already full with Y&R too.

I think Doug's gonna end up being host @ the begining of season 40. I think Drew's done after season 39....

Fun little factoid: the Range Game playing seen in the intro is from the pilot.
In the pilot of TNPiR, they modified the standard Range Game prop for the showcases.
From the looks of things, it appears to use a $10,000 range.
