In flames is far from emo I agree, but they are also far from Melodic death metal. Hate to say it, I used to attack people who made this kind of comments with Reroute to Remain, Soundtrack to your escape, or Come Clarity but they lost me with this album, not as a fan, as a unconditional/naive fan.

i for one love anders' new vocal style. no one can change pitch while screaming the way he can and you can really hear a lot more depth and emotion now than you did on say whoracle or colony. he's really added so much personality and dimension and its made him totally unique and set apart from other vocalists

You guys need to let the band evolve. What's the point, from In Flames' point of view, of making another "Clayman" or another "Jester Race" or any of their other albums for that matter, even if you think it's better - they've already made those albums. I like bands who explore their sound further which each new album, as In Flames has done. These guys are awesome. And "A Sense of Purpose" is amazing.

they didn't change their sounds, they changed the whole form as a band.

( that is, the current in flames sound.. ) personally.. i havent listened much to the old in flames.. the reason to that is my first song from in flames was with Anders friden.. so that was the in flames i got into.. going back is like taking on a whole new band, and i just might do that one day :P but til then.. ill stick with the present In Flames :D

People will always like the "old stuff" better. When they came out with R2R people said, "this is no Jester Race/Whoracle."

Now they say "this is no Clayman/Come Clarity."

I see people even saying they have strayed from Melodic Death Metal since Come Clarity!!

This is my favorite album right now bc it feels like this is where they should be, just like every album before. And I hope it stays that way.

People don't want their band getting more popular, that's why they say it's bad.

@AirmetalDrummer Haha yeah R2R is a fucken masterpiece, and the thing is sometimes it is hard to get into an album so you dismiss it as a disappointment. Then you hear the one song that keeps you putting it back in your player, eventually you get into the other songs one at a time, by the end, that album really means something cuz you had to dig and discover it, it didnt just force itself on you. For me it was the song Meat Dreams from my favorite band I Mother Earth (dont hate please)
