  • get down! jesse ed

  • My ridin' home song <3 I love you Taj

  • My ridin' home song <3

  • This song was written by Lonnie Young and Ed Young, and has been covered a LOT -- also by Jim Kweskin Jug Band (with Maria Muldaur on vocals), the Derek Trucks Band, Robben Ford, and Foghat, among others

  • Derek Trucks/Mike Mattison do it better, but respect to the Taj. Great tune.

  • @theatlantisrise "better"? Differently - with more of a roots blues feel. But Trucks is covering Taj's version. Taj generously rephrased the original "if you'll do something for me" as "just to do something for you," which is what Truck's vocalist sings. Phrasings, etc. are Taj. I prefer Taj's funkier, more danceable version, myself.

  • HUUU....BABY!

  • Hot dawg! Prehistoric funk!

  • Foghat butchered this song

  • everyone needs to hear eighteen hammers. too bad its only on the crappy box set and vinyl is out of print

  • it's "buy you a watch and chain" at 1:30 not "a washin' machaine"

  • I think this is one of the last tunes Jesse Ed Davis did with him. It sure sounds like him on guitar.

  • I love the horn on this! - Thanks for the upload!

  • That "horn" is a harmonica.

  • aka a "mouth harp"

  • @THaehn a horn in jazz/blues slang can be any intrument...

  • I remember when I first heard this song. It was like finding gold. Just wish it was longer.

  • this song was the one that got a 9 year old living with his aunt in harlem hooked

  • Can you think of any song that is more rubber to the road than Chevrolet? Make that long stretch of Rte 66 from Phoenix to L.A. and you'll know what I mean. Genuine Americana! Taj Mahal is the TRUTH y'all.
