This video series seemed like propaganda to push an anarchist agenda. The underlying anti-establishment messages are misleading and the overall sense of gloom seem to give Love a negative vibe. To me Love is about overcoming, it is about harmony, and the absence of confusion, this video seemed to distort that.
@Liquidhandshook It may be a bit exaggerated but it illustrates a nice expose of the limits that hierarchical society puts on love, and authenticity in general.
I just feel that the limits put on one's love are self imposed rather than imposed by a particular society. It seems that many "selves" are what form a society, so if there are problems with society then there must be problems with the "selves" that compose that society. To me this video seems to place blame solely on the cultural norms of a particular society for the repression of love, and I wholeheartedly disagree with that. Just my take.
@Liquidhandshook In my opinion authoritarian institutions mold people into sheep. Many people don't pursue their true dreams, personal and otherwise, and instead try to conform to the social norms imposed around them. That's why artistic forms of expression like music for example that values authenticity is often considered counter-culture, because fake, polished pop music that doesn't express true emotion is the more popularized norm. I agree though that personal experiences depend a lot on the
individual though. The thing about relationships though is that this inauthentic norm can make it more difficult to find fulfilling romantic relationships. Not impossible though, where there's a will there's a way
@Liquidhandshook & 'anarchist agenda' is kind of an oxymoron. Anarchists are arguably the people with the least agenda out of anyone (though sometimes I think people who call themselves anarchists abuse the term)
@dubified89 I don't find it to be an oxymoron at all. It seems that just about all political movements have agendas to push. An anarchy is basically a rouge political movement/philosophy closely related to socialism.
ALL human action falls into 2 categories. HeartDriven or EgoDriven. to understand why the world is the way it is right now We must understand how the ego works in a Simple Clear light. Simply because ALL Solutions are Simple. what i communicate in my vids is a NEW Revolutionary Way of understanding the Human Mind.
I would question about homosexuality and love, if love is a great thing and such an idea for revolution then why does the state approve of it now when they didnt years ago?
the state does not permit or approve of true love, heterosexual, homosexual or otherwise. By its very nature the state and all other institutions designed for the instruction of people will never be able to encompas the desires that drive one who has found love
This was a very beautiful and inspirational piece. Love is part of the revolution just as any other emotion, for it is one of the strongest of passions.
The end got me. On 7-7-07 my best friend's dog was shot by a local cop. She hadn't done anything, she didn't even touch him or anyone else and he still shot her. The news papers lied about it, said she attacked him.
christianity does restrict the way we love although seanmcg5 may think otherwise. it is christianity which says it is "immoral" for people of the same sex to love or act on thier desires of love. it is also christianity that is ever so adament that a relationship must be a monogamous and that the man of said relationship (assuming of course that this is a heterosexual relationship) must be the dominant one.
i have a strong critique of this chapter of the "Days of War, Nights of Love" book too.. It was however the most "mainstream", which is why i think this short film was made, to spread the idea of the book itself.
i love most of crimethinc's stuff, but this i found rather dull and frankly not very well thought out. It actually presents a rather narrow view of relationships by only considering what life is like for the average young american couple. And it also presents a very one sided view of christianity, i don't think the basic tenets of christianity restrict the way we love at all. Still it won't put me off crimethinc's mor imaginative stuff.
For those who want to know the song it's 'True Love Waits' by Raidohead.

@Liquidhandshook Okay but if you look at the literal definition of the word anarchy it means no rulers, being in control of your own destiny.
