  • The recording is a bit live so it's hard to enjoy the soft nature of this song. Eventually she may play it less Pianistically and more legato. Just let the notes flow....yet keep the tempo even as zabki22 mentioned. Yet even doesn't mean metronomic even it means tone, texture and touch even. John-Hans Melcher

  • Too slow, too loud.

Schumann's tempo instruction is 1/4 = 100. This means, that he didn't want a "slow" Träumerei, but a tempo like "allegretto". I repeat what i said before, other pianists play it slower, i mentioned the tempo, for an other commentary said it would be too fast. I think, Yukiko Makise's main mistake is the uneaqual tempo.

  • @zabki22

    >I think, Yukiko Makise's main mistake is the uneaqual tempo.

There is sense of incongruity in an irregular tempo indeed. I understood it well. Her Träumerei becomes early suddenly and becomes late, but I think that this is a mistake.

i know, it is very hard to follow Schumann's instructions, for Träumerei becomes a complete other piece then we are familiar with. Sorry, but Yukiko Makise plays, what Schumann calls "der Gang eines Betrunkenen", the walk of a drunk - long notes very slow, eigth much quicker. That makes the accord seems to be "free".

  • @zabki22 ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

    idiotisch bin ich, entschuldigung...........

  • too fast, but beautiful

  • @EdleJulve

... not too fast, but much too slow. Schumann says 1/4=100, she plays 1/4=63-72 ca. - ok, others play it slower ...

  • @bunhiroharu

  • @reonald911

Why a dream always should be "slow"? - there are dreams or reveries more fluent or even quick ones! Have a look to Schumanns "Traum eines Kindes" = "Dream of a child" in his sonata op. 118c, there he says "Sehr lebhaft" = Very lively.
