@boypaslot Yea it is possible. I did 4 years in the Army at Ft Benning in 1-15th INF, 3rd ID, got out and joined the Louisiana national guard, then reenlisted back into the regular army in 2-30th INF, 10th mountain div. My guard unit had guys that drilled with us a few times then went to OSUT and had either airborne/air assault then came back to the unit. I don't think the "split-op" guys had that choice. As far as Ranger School, it's an option with the guard, just hard as hell to get.
The national guard does offer ranger school and airborne, it's hard to get slotted for either unless you have it in your contract upon enlistment. It's also quite easy to get it if you're going officer. IDK how it is in the guard anymore but in the regular army (especially if you're infantry) they pretty much make you go to Ranger School
Air assault school was such a BS school. I'm just glad I don't have to renew my wings every other year. It's not like it was hard, it was just retarded.
How much weight did you guys have to carry on the final ruck? I really want to do air assault but the whole error identification seems hard. Plus the log weaver in the obstacle course, sucked at that in basic.
I am sure that you've gone through both, but you must be in a combat group that benefits from having that kind of training. For most people in the Guard, however, Air Assault school is the closest they are going to get to Ranger of Airborne school. This is only my opinion. I am not in the guard and have not yet served.
@BackBlocks09 I was actually in this course I'm in the video. Theres a lot I can tell you. But be prepared to have the shit smoked out of you all day on zero day. Don't quit. Hopefully you been keeping yourself in shape. People will fuck up and make everyone suffer but that's no surprise if you went through basic. Biggest piece of advice I will give you though, is for the second phase, STUDY YOUR ASS OFF!!! I'm not kidding. Use every bit of time you have to go through the sequences.
@smildonfatalis1 I'm not really sure I didn't know there was a height requirement. How tall are you? Only thing I can say is that being shorter does put you at a disadvantage for certain things (especially the obstacle course), but if you are strong enough for your height you'll do fine.
@smildonfatalis1 Yea ur gonna have trouble on a couple of obstacles but just do your best. Be in top shape and open up your stride on the road marches. Work on jumping a bit too
@BravoZeroOne1 Thank you. I wan't to be in the 101st so badly since I saw BOB. The obstacle course on here with like 6"0 guys struggling to get over it kinda killed my dream a bit.
You realize the same trainers travel around the country right? I had these trainers in OR and they were based out of Benning. You really think the location matters in how hard it is or the trainers?
@USRECON1 Run often, learn your basic knots, learn to tie a swiss seat, start doing road marches - get comfortable rucking for long distances, 12-15 miles and you'll be ready for end of course ruck march. You'll be instructed on everything you need to know to graduate but you'll be better prepared if you are already familiar.
Going to airborne school this summer after bct, air assault looks pretty interesting to try.

@VenDeath I would estimate the final ruck to have been about 25-30 pounds. Maybe less. It wasn't really that heavy
Oyo321 5 months ago
@Oyo321 I heard the same from elsewhere. I have training with 50 pounds or so right now.

The National Guard offers both ranger and airborne. Seeing as I have been through both, and am in the National Guard.
