A wounded soldier puts alot of strain on logistics in an operation, not to mention the cost of funerals and change of public opinion able to change goverments and policies caused by casualties of war. An armor plate is much more easy to replace than a soldier.

@TheLynxie Automated guns are a problem, as they can not discern an actual detected attacker from a false detection. Accidentally shooting bystanders is one of the main reasons western armies are so unpopular in other countries.

However, if there's already a controler who has a live video connections, there's no reason to not add a remote controlled gun to that thing. And a minimally experienced attacker would have used an RPG and not a rifle.
