The Atzei Chaim zya does not have Hyd by his name bc he was not killed. It was his son, Reb Zalman Leib Hyd, who was killed by the nazis ys - he was the brother of the Berach Moshe zya and this rebbe was named for that uncle who died as well as they old zeide the Yetev Lev zya
Please correct the name to Szatmári Rabbi, that is the right spelling. Szatmár is a county of the historical Hungary, the main city is Szatmárnémeti (Satu Mare) which is in Romania at the present days. The half of the county is still in Hungary and it forms a county together with two other took-a-part counties which partly got cut off the nation and called now as Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg megye (county).
Yes, one hatter (Ferster) I met in Boro Park can speak Hungarian, and his father came from Szatmár (He was quintolingual - Hebrew, Yiddish, German, English, Hungarian). Many haredim can speak still both Yiddish and Hungarian. Why?
