2) ALASKA: The US gov't wants to destroy one of the worlds most fragile ecozone (the tundra) to pump oil from offshore rigs in the arctic oceans thousands of miles down to the bering sea through PIPELINES.

3) Canada is one of the greenest nations in the world, and the US has the leaves the highest global footprint per capita.

They are but it's not enough and they realize that. They realize that we can't plant trees faster than everyone else is tearing them down. we can't clean the air faster than everyone else is polluting it. so the only way to combat it is not only to take action in cleaning up pollution and healing the earth but by promoting others to stop destroying it in the first place.
