randman, if you cut back on the foood that they eat and subsitute it with veggies like green beans and pumpkin, it gives the dog variety. what dogs crave in food. if you do that it may help.

You can feed her rich, good quality food that tastes great, like fresh meats and vegetables, just like dogs should eat and wolves in the wild eat. Once she gets a taste of a good quality recipe or dog food like Innova, she will never want to go back to unhealthy food.
my dogs are on california natural. it's AMAZING dogfood, i have to special order it. so i'm not feeding her unhealthy food. she is 10 years old, i'm not going to start changing her diet & exercising her to death. she's VERY active. she just never loses weight. idk why she's fat lol.
California Naturals is a great dog food and made by the same company as Innova. Dramatically changing her diet and exercising her to death would only cause more harm than good to her when she is already 10, so of course I would not insinuate that. She may have a thyroid condition if she is truly obese, lives an active lifestyle (and by active I mean at least two hours of straight exercise a day) and is eating good quality dog food, then I would get that checked out.Or, change the AMOUNT of food.
Also, you shouldn't have to special order California Naturals. You should be able to get it at any local feed store for livestock or any non-commercial pet store that doesn't sell pets. Most pet stores that are not PetCo or PetSmart sell it.

Well, table scraps certainly contribute to the weight gain. As do treats. If she is getting enough nutrients, what you might want to do is cut the dog food portion and replace 1/3 of the portion with dog-friendly, fresh, organic vegetables like lightly steamed carrots. If this takes out too much protein or nutrients, you can put her on a supplement. If your vet didn't do any bloodwork on her, I would request that it be done.
Beagles are impressive dogs, despite they tend to become fatter and fatter...it's true they look more cute and goofy (myself I'm just crazy for this dog), but this could cause them serious problems to their health, such heart failure or stuff like this!

Nooo..don't make him fatter. A dog that heavy won't live past 12 or 13. Beagles love their walks and should be taken on long ones daily.
