@TheFl1pside Microsoft Office 2011. Why? The majority of the world does not use macs, therefore, the majority of people will not have a Pages compatible is low. If you have office you will almost NEVER have this issue.

I'm not sure how long you've been a mac user, and I don't mean this in any offensive manner, but dealing with things in layers isn't new at all for mac software, and personally I would view the layer visual only good if I was working on a touch screen. Really it feels like more of a way for them to finally fix how horribly painful it was in old Office versions to deal with changing formatting.

Why is all the example templates in another language and not in English? Its very annoying when I want to use a template and don't understand what it says therefore I have to figure out where I need to input writing and insert stuff which wastes time and gets me frustrated. English example templates as giving and example of what to write in those sections would have been the correct way to go. I guess English examples were too much trouble for Microsoft to implement into Office:mac 2011...

@TheFl1pside i've been using iwork for almost a year now, it just doesn't feel the same when u open microsoft office files using iwork applications, im getting office soon.. much easier and it should work on both mac and pc.

the company i work for uses pc desktops and that is why i need office, to easily view and edit work files on my mac. iwork is really awesome though !

@TomNHari yes, you can open documents that are saved in the 2003 format, before you save the document in office 2010 it gives you a list of older microsoft formats and some apple ones.

Just pickup office for Mac 2011 being a first time user i like it very much but i was debating over Office for Mac 2011 or iWork but my job has a Microsoft home use program so I didn't pay full price for the software that's why I went with Office for Mac but what's the difference between the two, I love outlook because now i can get mail from my work at home but know i'm trying to setup my iphone with exchange but i'm having a hard time with it but i'll figure it out.

I have the disc and I downloaded the 14.0.1 update and it has not resolved the issue. The update says that a version of Office 2011 is not installed and the update can't be installed.

Outlook instantly quits when the application tries to open.

This office 2011 is for the first time, in my opinion, a challenge to Apples pages/ keynote/ & numbers. I've owned both older versions of the office for Mac and this is light years ahead of them. Great review...!

@XtiantGen Word is still pretty buggy and the typography options are absolutely abysmal. The kerning and so on is god awful, just like on Windows (which is why I guess it's the same, so it looks the same when you swap files). Pages renders and arranges fonts FAR FAR better and allows you to create much improved page layouts. Keynote still beats the crap out of PowerPoint, but PP is heading in the right direction. Numbers still needs to catch up to Excel's features but does a better job at graphs
