I know for a fact that he got battered in the cherry tree pub in Burmantofts in Leeds by a really well known Leeds bouncer/ street fighter. Im not going to name him on here tho. Im a boxing fan and watching a few of Pauls fights he had the talent but abused that. Its a shame what became of him, but you make your own way in life and blaming your dad for everything is just bollocks. It seems to me that he turned into his dad and worse.

He talked about all his kids too and hoped they would lead better lives than he felt he had led. Paul also talked about his wife and the regrets he had in general how he'd gone about things in the past. In conclusion, he was a real character to know and no matter what state he was in when I saw him either in the office or out and about in Wakefield, he'd promptly shout "hi" and ask how I was. RIP Paul.

Paul spent alot of time popping by the office (on kirkgate in Wakefield-2003)&I found him to be so intelligent, he'd quote shakespear, he recite articles he'd read, there wasn't anything really he didn't absorb and quote to others. Each time he visited he was a gent and apologised for his appearance. I looked forward to chatting to him to be honest, he was an intriging character to know, Im not excusing what he did, but he was 'unique'. I just wish things could have been so different for him.

Paul used to come into the office where I worked and spend ages chatting away to me. His first words to me was "do crabs think we walk sideways?", I fell about laughing like hell at him. He told me about his prison days and said he had effectively raped other prisoners, he could also tell I was disturbed when he told me so swiftly said "I have x amount of CSE's, 19 A Levels, a BA Hons and 21 Convictions" followed by a huge belly laugh. one of the hardest guys in the north of england in the 80,s....paul was feared but he was,nt respected,he never had the class like a lot of the faces of the time,i met him blackpool in 1990,and he was known as a real hard case,but to unpredictable to be accepted in the criminal fraternity off the time..but i cud tell he was one crazy motherfucker..r.i.p. paul one of many englands legends..
