A very lucid, insightful, and well spoken Bowie in the 1977 clip. When he says he can't remember what he was talking about "at that particular point", is this the Station to Station period when he was in LA?
I kind of know what you mean about the drug thing and it's easy to stereotype he's better as a junkie but then i listen to The Man Who Sold the World, Hunky Dory and Ziggy all of which were made pretty drug free. His addictions didn't really start until he moved to America for the USA 1974 Diamond Dogs tour and thereafter.
I disagree. He might have had a couple bad songs, but who knows what he was going through during that time. besides, most creators have a few missteps. I still think he is amazing.
yep-he lived with iggy pop for a year there + was bombed out of his mind most of the time i bet,+ wouldnt u in somewhere like berlin? even lou reeds berlin album leaves u reaching for the antidepressives - makes u wanna cry
u should be more honest - i come from london yet can say parts are extremly depressing, like the poorer areas where i originate, similar to whats depicted in this vid-tenements etc - theres nothing wrong with that, its just the way it is - + if bowie recovered in berlin how come he cant remember it with a clearer mind he would have had if hed recovered?
Yeah...but the fact ist Lou Reed wasn't in Berlin at all in these days. He road an album about a town, that he didn't enter, in this time. Pure imagination. So put away your valium, Belin rules ;o)
who did the terrible editing on this?

I went to Berlin once and all I did was riding the S Bahn in circles with Heroes on repeat on my mp3 player.

I agree. Bowie had a lot of passion, but not on drugs, when he authored this song.

Ah, memories of visiting Bowie's old house in Berlin... The two will always be intrinsically linked in my mind.

I'm a 17 year old straight male, but if Bowie and Iman ever split up, I would be all over that!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
once bowie stopped taking drugs, his music suffered.

@pythonbyte Well I don't agree with that at all.

@Bodacea1 That's because he really doesn't mean it himself.
ohdear671 11 months ago
@pythonbyte Dude, he didn't do drugs when he made The Berlin trilogy and those albums are one of his finest!
Hog4n 1 year ago
@pythonbyte That's a bit harsh. Besides - don't famous people usually mean 'cut down' when they say they've 'given up'.

"...and so a kind of the infantil faszination that I had for that period, was quickly blown away, I think".
THX, Mr. Jones for these words!
Sileah 3 years ago
Come on Mr Bowie it was more than a horrendous coke habit and an infantile obsession with English mythology that was making you behave like that.
Out with the truth Mr Jones. It was that movie and what you learned about the moon wasn't it?
