@happypotato99 I have to feel sorry for ya for not having the games... I've read every single book, seen all the movies and I have the games.. But that's 'cause my parents are obsessed over Discworld ! ^^
What makes Discworld funny is the way it's written. The jokes and funny descriptions don't work in any other medium, unless the narrator is speaking the entire time. The two movies they made just weren't funny.
@JaceValm There is a movie, the BBC made "The Colour of Magic" - a mini series, actually - and to tell you the truth, I think they miss the cast by a mile. Except for Vetinari, who is Jeremy Irons and I think he is rather good at it and Tim Curry, playing a wizard, don´t remember which one.
On the plus side, the DID cast Christopher Lee as Death´s voice :)
If you are American, the game is called "Discworld 2: Mortality Bytes". But if you are British, or European it is called "Discworld 2: Missing, presumed...!?"
I have this on my phone! I love the tune. Ah Discworld 2 was a fantastic game. In fact when they produced the live action "Colour of Magic" on Sky:One at eater, they should have got Eric Idle to play Rincewind, as he did in both games.
Ah, now you see I think David Jason would make a good "Dean" but Albert was always a bit of a git, all-be-it a git with a good heart. I think Richard Wilson should have played Albert, and put a bit of "Victor Meldrew" into the character!
I always saw the Dean (in my head as i was reading) as a bit of a "David Jason-like" character. Richard Wilson isn't completely upper class, I'm sure he could do the typical "Ankh Morpork-like" accents and mannerisms. I also think Brian Blessed would make a good Mustrum Ridcully, Ricky Gervais as CMOT Dibbler, Liz Smith as Granny Wetherwax, Bob Hoskins as Seargent Fred Colon, Phillip Madoc as Havelock Vetinari, and of course Christopther Lee as the "VOICE OF DEATH"... Who would you have?
hehe, that is true, they are both a bit incompetent. Though I would prefer if Bloody stupid johnson was kept actorless. As soon as you see a face for the guy i'd think the humour would suffer
My dad bought this game when it first came out in 1996, I was 6 years old and I played it constantly. The disc was lost when my house flooded so I havent played it in years...what a blast from the past!
Terry Prachett and Eric Idle...2 of the greatest people ever!
How cool would it be if there was a Death and he/she was like that??
I dunno, I have so many songs on my list. There's "Let It Be," "Requiem For the Gods," "Lillium," and saving the three best for last "That's Death," "The Galaxy Song," OR "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life." It sucks having so many good songs to choose from. I have no idea what I want people to hear at my viewing. Oh, I'll waste my final wish to see to it that whatever song I do pick be played.
It's Eric Idle. But I happen to love Monty Python & Eric is my favourite, & I am currently doing a Terry Pratchett reading marathon, so this is awesome!
On the version of the game that I have (The American PC version, Discworld 2), this is the ending credits after you have won, not the intro as in some imported versions.
Love this game!
I still play Discworld 2 and Discworld Noir (3) on my XP...
It took some fiddling to get it work considering it came out for Win95 & 98, but well worth the effort!
Now if only someone would do the game(s) in their entirety as a movie style video!
...discworld? on amiga ? wtf ? the first one was only for pc and maybe psx (although i dont think so) besides this is the second part and that came out only for pc and psx
That's so funny, it doesn't sound like him because he seems to be singing with an American accent. It is him though, but he pulls of the American revy lewl.
Bought every single book, watched all the movies, tried to track down the games, and my dad calls me obsessive over the Discworld. As if.

This is so funny, if a film came out:
Rincewind: Eric Idle
Archchancellor: Brian Blessed
Bursar: Terry Jones
The Dean: David Jason
CMOT Dibbler: Ricky Gervais
Death (voice): Christopher Lee
Lord Vetrinari: Alan Rickman
Skazz: Andy Serkis
JaceValm 2 years ago 3
Well, maybe animated or CGI movie 'cause Eric doesn't look like Rincewind.

Well, at least as I imagine Rincewind.

Rincewind 4 ever!

Well I think Jim Carrey would do Rincewind an excellent justice. Only my personal opinion. Lol
Aphrodite2009 3 years ago 2
Erh, no offence meant, but he did once try it and believe you me, it was awful. Eric Idle is and was the perfect v.a. for this role.
Sparkbomber 3 years ago 3
Agreed, since i've never herd Jim Carrey at it I think he would sound kind of funny. But there can be no replacment for Eric Idle.
petey207 3 years ago 23
its from a game based on the discworld series by Terry Pratchett.
The game is called "Discworld 2". Be sure sure to play the first one as well, as it has also voices by Eric Idle :)

yeah, I agree. I mean, David Jason did a great Albert, but I just couldn't see him as our cowardly friend Rincewind
TheOriginalBoman 3 years ago
Ah, now you see I think David Jason would make a good "Dean" but Albert was always a bit of a git, all-be-it a git with a good heart. I think Richard Wilson should have played Albert, and put a bit of "Victor Meldrew" into the character!
gaztheman 3 years ago
ooh no, I wouldn't want the 'I-Dont-believe-it-guy' as Albert. He's too upper class.
And David as Mr Two-chairs? You mad!?
TheOriginalBoman 3 years ago
I always saw the Dean (in my head as i was reading) as a bit of a "David Jason-like" character. Richard Wilson isn't completely upper class, I'm sure he could do the typical "Ankh Morpork-like" accents and mannerisms. gaztheman 3 years ago
I never really thought who would play who, but i think liz smith would make a better nanny ogg than granny weatherwax.
What do you think of Chris Barrie as Rincewind?
TheOriginalBoman 3 years ago
Actually Chris Barrie wouldn't be a bad choice for Rincewind... Though I always imagined "Bloody Stupid Johnson" to be a bit like Arnold Rimmer....
gaztheman 3 years ago
hehe, that is true, they are both a bit incompetent. Though I would prefer if Bloody stupid johnson was kept actorless. As soon as you see a face for the guy i'd think the humour would suffer

You know, for for Vetinari I always had Alan Rickman in mind. I mean you put the die hard beard on him and BAM!
Kross2099 3 years ago
Never thought of Alan Rickman as Vetinari... But now that you mention it, yes, I agre, he could do it rather well.
gaztheman 3 years ago
A lot of those would be good, but isn't Dibbler supposed to be weasel-esque? Gervais is more like a hamster.
