  • Bought every single book, watched all the movies, tried to track down the games, and my dad calls me obsessive over the Discworld. As if.

  • @happypotato99 I have to feel sorry for ya for not having the games... I've read every single book, seen all the movies and I have the games.. But that's 'cause my parents are obsessed over Discworld ! ^^

  • Why is Death naked?

  • One of the first games I played, I loved it so much I played it 8 times.

  • a song about death shouldn't make me smile, but here I sit smiling :)

  • 7 people know what death is.

  • Gosh, I wish I'd been born a couple years earlier to play this game ._.

  • @FunnyLittleMe Who says you can't play it now?

  • lol death must be paridise!!

  • Eric Idle is the only man who has ever made me comfortable with the idea of death.

  • Great song. Got me through my suicidal teen years.

  • THIS is going to be my funeral song.

  • Discworld (and Eric Idle) at his finest.

  • Ooo that brings back memories. Thanks for posting.

  • Awesome game, and loved this song too. Had it on the Saturn, surreal as hell, could never get very far!

  • Someone should reanimate this in flash and fill in all the gaps between movements

  • @ZoomingDakota 'Somebody' should? Be my guest!

  • So Eric Idle voiced Rincewind? Good fit.

Wish I had played those games.

  • What makes Discworld funny is the way it's written. The jokes and funny descriptions don't work in any other medium, unless the narrator is speaking the entire time. The two movies they made just weren't funny.

  • HAHAHAHA!!

  • Is this a parody of the "That's Life" Scotch videotape commercials with the skeleton and all?

  • love you eric. wow.

  • LOLOl I love Eric Idle and his songs lol

  • totally anti suicide song

  • brilliant

  • I so want to sing this at the school concert...

  • This is so funny, if a film came out:

    Rincewind: Eric Idle

    Archchancellor: Brian Blessed

    Bursar: Terry Jones

    The Dean: David Jason

    CMOT Dibbler: Ricky Gervais

    Death (voice): Christopher Lee

    Lord Vetrinari: Alan Rickman

    Skazz: Andy Serkis

  • Well, maybe animated or CGI movie 'cause Eric doesn't look like Rincewind.

  • Well, at least as I imagine Rincewind.

  • @JaceValm There is a movie, the BBC made "The Colour of Magic" - a mini series, actually - and to tell you the truth, I think they miss the cast by a mile. Except for Vetinari, who is Jeremy Irons and I think he is rather good at it and Tim Curry, playing a wizard, don´t remember which one.

On the plus side, the DID cast Christopher Lee as Death´s voice :)

  • @JaceValm if animated, also WE NEED THIS

  • This is a song that I would like played at my funeral. This is hilarious and Eric Idle has so much talent.

  • This song is pretty funny. Add the quirky animations and you have a recipe for laughs. xD

  • Brilliant song xDDD !

  • This Song is especially!

I love it and the Game Discworld 2 is cool^^

    Rincewind 4 ever!

  • The only thing i've ever been sure of is Rik Mayall as the voice of the raven :)

  • Well I think Jim Carrey would do Rincewind an excellent justice. Only my personal opinion. Lol

  • Erh, no offence meant, but he did once try it and believe you me, it was awful. Eric Idle is and was the perfect v.a. for this role.

  • Agreed, since i've never herd Jim Carrey at it I think he would sound kind of funny. But there can be no replacment for Eric Idle.

  • its from a game based on the discworld series by Terry Pratchett.

The game is called "Discworld 2". Be sure sure to play the first one as well, as it has also voices by Eric Idle :)

  • Thank you so much!!!

I will go to the shop soon lol

  • If you are American, the game is called "Discworld 2: Mortality Bytes". But if you are British, or European it is called "Discworld 2: Missing, presumed...!?"

  • This song os from a movie? If there is can someone tell me the title plis? (a)

It's so nice that song, I really love it

  • death tax...... it aint free to die.

  • I'm re-born!!!finding this

  • I have this on my phone! I love the tune. Ah Discworld 2 was a fantastic game. In fact when they produced the live action "Colour of Magic" on Sky:One at eater, they should have got Eric Idle to play Rincewind, as he did in both games.

  • yeah, I agree. I mean, David Jason did a great Albert, but I just couldn't see him as our cowardly friend Rincewind

  • Ah, now you see I think David Jason would make a good "Dean" but Albert was always a bit of a git, all-be-it a git with a good heart. I think Richard Wilson should have played Albert, and put a bit of "Victor Meldrew" into the character!

  • ooh no, I wouldn't want the 'I-Dont-believe-it-guy' as Albert. He's too upper class.

And David as Mr Two-chairs? You mad!?

  • I always saw the Dean (in my head as i was reading) as a bit of a "David Jason-like" character. Richard Wilson isn't completely upper class, I'm sure he could do the typical "Ankh Morpork-like" accents and mannerisms. I also think Brian Blessed would make a good Mustrum Ridcully, Ricky Gervais as CMOT Dibbler, Liz Smith as Granny Wetherwax, Bob Hoskins as Seargent Fred Colon, Phillip Madoc as Havelock Vetinari, and of course Christopther Lee as the "VOICE OF DEATH"... Who would you have?

  • I never really thought who would play who, but i think liz smith would make a better nanny ogg than granny weatherwax.

What do you think of Chris Barrie as Rincewind?

  • Actually Chris Barrie wouldn't be a bad choice for Rincewind... Though I always imagined "Bloody Stupid Johnson" to be a bit like Arnold Rimmer....

  • hehe, that is true, they are both a bit incompetent. Though I would prefer if Bloody stupid johnson was kept actorless. As soon as you see a face for the guy i'd think the humour would suffer

  • You know, for for Vetinari I always had Alan Rickman in mind. I mean you put the die hard beard on him and BAM!

  • Never thought of Alan Rickman as Vetinari... But now that you mention it, yes, I agre, he could do it rather well.

  • A lot of those would be good, but isn't Dibbler supposed to be weasel-esque? Gervais is more like a hamster.

  • Oh, and I think that the Pythons would be awesome for the wizards.

  • Oh god, I don't want to think about it, Vader.

  • That would be kind of funny xD

    Rincewind- Eric Idle

    Archancellor- John Cleese..

I can see it all now!

  • Terry Jones - The Bursar.

  • Yes! It's all coming together.

  • Who'd be The Dean? :)

  • Michael Palin!

  • @petey207 John Cleese voiced the archancellor?

  • Im so excited at finding this!

My dad bought this game when it first came out in 1996, I was 6 years old and I played it constantly. The disc was lost when my house flooded so I havent played it in years...what a blast from the past!

Terry Prachett and Eric Idle...2 of the greatest people ever!

How cool would it be if there was a Death and he/she was like that??

  • I love this song, one of the best in a game in overall. And believe me, I've been playing games for a very long time! :-)

  • Only on the Discworld is DEATH so charismatic. and what about you? DO YOU LIKE CATS? ;)

The fact that it's Eric Idle singing only catalyzes the pure awesomness that is this video. Om be praised...

  • Choose "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life", that's what I'm gonna do.

  • I dunno, I have so many songs on my list. There's "Let It Be," "Requiem For the Gods," "Lillium," and saving the three best for last "That's Death," "The Galaxy Song," OR "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life." It sucks having so many good songs to choose from. I have no idea what I want people to hear at my viewing. Oh, I'll waste my final wish to see to it that whatever song I do pick be played.

  • Just hilarious! I LOVE Monty Python and their good old sarcasm ... Cheers, see you on the other side! ;-)

  • This isn't Monty Python, but Terry Pratchett. Still both are great though.

  • It's Eric Idle. But I happen to love Monty Python & Eric is my favourite, & I am currently doing a Terry Pratchett reading marathon, so this is awesome!

  • HAHAHAAAAA

  • On the version of the game that I have (The American PC version, Discworld 2), this is the ending credits after you have won, not the intro as in some imported versions.

    Love this game!

I still play Discworld 2 and Discworld Noir (3) on my XP...

It took some fiddling to get it work considering it came out for Win95 & 98, but well worth the effort!

Now if only someone would do the game(s) in their entirety as a movie style video!

    That would be fun!

  • I thought it was a DOS game. Do they have a Windows interface for it?

  • Hmm, looking at the disks right now...

Looks like the first and second say it is for Windows 95 or DOS, while the third, Discworld Noir, says it is for Win 98...

  • i want a new discworld :(

  • had this game on my ps1...god do i miss those days:(

  • This is excellent stuff. I've never been afraid of death anyway, and this is a hilarious way to express that!

  • Brilliant! Amazing! Awesome! Fantastic! I simply love it :))

  • Is this song a theemtune or what? Which film then? i like the song :)

  • I have this game :D:D:D:D

  • Its kinda funny that a Monthy Python scene is in this movie :P

  • Apparently it used to cost £2.50 not including VAT...

  • It's dirges all around then

  • I know this is just jumping in the bandwagon by now, but I really really want to have this played at my funeral.

  • I swear I want this sung at my funeral.

  • I agree; if this was played at my funeral, then I really would RIP.

  • I wonder if Terry Pratchet had Eric Idle in his mind as he wrote this song

  • When terry wrote the character rincewind he said that eric idle was who he had in mind

  • ...discworld? on amiga ? wtf ? the first one was only for pc and maybe psx (although i dont think so) besides this is the second part and that came out only for pc and psx

  • That's so funny, it doesn't sound like him because he seems to be singing with an American accent. It is him though, but he pulls of the American revy lewl.

  • Looks like life isn't the only thing to look on the bright side of!

  • *Sigh* - i love this song, it reminds me on the good old times playing this great game on my beloved Commodore AMIGA (R.I.P.).

  • HAHAHAHAHA

  • i love this song, and ERiC iDLE!

  • great song strangley considering i usually like heavy stuff
