Love this song. I was the DJ at The Camalot Inn on Quentin Rd in Brooklyn in 1974 then at 2001 Odyssey in Bay Ridge till the end of 1975. One of the first Hustle songs!
I am from Elizabeth NJ- first time I heard this song was in a small disco called Rodz. It was a great hot spot for this new dance called the hustle....the rest is history!
Really where was RODZ located in Elizabeth? Broad St. I'm a DJ for 30 years now. from UNION, NJ. i played many spots in NJ/NY i herd of RODZ but it was before my time. I remember Harpers on RT 22 in Union though.
Hi there...I knew a Ralph Guida from eliz who was a dj. He spun at alot of the local clubs as well as at shore clubs. I went to Harpers, that was fun. Remember Creations in West Orange? Or Dimples in Union? and so many more.
Rodz was down the "burg" on Third Avenue. I remember "Black Frankie" spun there. Did you know him?
Ralph Guido gave me my first DJ job at Dimples in Union. I was a club DJ in NJ from 1973 to 1983. I also spun at: The Meadowbrook The Soap Factory Creation Chicago Club Benet The Palace Dante's Inferno and some other clubs that I am not remembering right now. At one point, I was working the Meadowbrook on Friday night, the Soap Factory on Saturday night, and Creation on Sunday night, the three main nights at each club.
Wow, I had been to all of these clubs. I loved Creations on a Monday or Tuesday- can't remember exactly- as a group of hustle dances would meet up and just dance..I miss those fun days. I still look for these places, now I have to go to NY for them. Do you still spin at all. or go anywhere good?
I grew up in Carteret. Also lived in Elizabeth while attending Kean University from 1972-1976, Roselle, and up by Giants Stadium before I moved to Chicago.
I now live in Plano, TX and am totally out of playing music.
I had over 70 boxes of records that I was moving around with me because of each of my corporate job moves. About 10 years ago, I went through all of them to reduce the weight and keep just the best and I now have about 10 boxes of 12 inches, 45's and LP's from 1973-1983 including many test pressings, colored vinyl etc. almost all of them promotional copies from the record companies. I was in the first group of people in the Garden State Record Pool that George Rodriguez started.
i probably know many people that you know what's your name? let me know if your looking to move any vinyl i buy vinyl and older equipment. I live in union Have over 40,000 12" singles.
