PART TWO: "Generally a dog and cat may ingest more grass or plant material when there is some gastrointestinal discomfort or upset. It is normal though in many cases.
Just to be on the safe side, I would take a sample of poop to your veterinarian to ensure that there are no intestinal parasites and if that is clear I would ensure that they get a dose of laxative paste 2 x weekly to ensure no hairball irritation or constipation from grooming."
PART ONE:"Many cats like to eat grass. In many cases it has a mild laxative effect which somehow they know will help flush out there system. I would believe if this is the case, it would help with eliminating fur balls from grooming and ingesting their fur. Sometimes it may also be a strange fascination of movement that they try and catch long grass when it is waving and try and stop and eat it, much like when they are playing with a toy or chase a moving string or curtain thread etc."
Greens ;) I would contact your veterinarian to see if it is okay to give him/her a little every day to eat, if he likes to eat it. I am assuming your feline is treating the broccoli the same way cats treat grass. I am going to post a copy/paste from a veterinarian about the necessity of grass in feline diets, just so you know why it is important to them :) I am not sure about the broccoli, though, although my 17 year old loved dill weed, which never hurt him.
You know what it might be...the plastic bag. the cracking noise of plastic used to drive my Siamese nuts. Obvisously he does'nt like the broccoli. Just a thought. Also, be careful not to let them chew on the plastic bag :)
I was upset you didn't let him have any, but tuxedo cats are glorious explorers and love performing. I had one who used to wave out the window at people passing through the alley. I couldn't figure out why they were laughing at my house.
A b/w cat carrying nine kittens came in my kitchen and inhaled (!) broccoli stalks, I guess because she needed the calcium. Then she came in and had the kittens under my table. Spayed, she has no interest in broccoli, but wow what a Piaf voice.
my cat ignores the broccoli i bring home. I even tried to give it to her but she just turns her head and goes away :/ But on the other hand she is scrazy about crisps (doesn't matter what flavour ;)).
Give him the damn broccoli! Quit teasing him and take some out of the plastic bag and let him eat it. He obviously wants some and it won't hurt him. Give him some...please!
Maybe George wanted it then and there cos of sudden cravings, while other times he wouldn't want it. Like I sometimes have cravings for chocolate though normally I wouldn't eat it :) Or maybe he really needed the broccoli like we sometimes really need aspirin or paracetamol..? 8-)
I said, I WANT BROCCOLI !!!!!!
