  • Thank you for making this video! I've been aware of this sort of thing for a few months now and it's good to see some people are making videos to spread the word.

  • wow I thought eucerine was a superior brand, I didn't expect to hear it had these kind of ingredients

  • I'm so glad I watched this video. I just found out one of my blushes contains talc, methylparaben, propylparaben, ethylparaben, butylparaben, bismuth oxychloride AND carmine! That's like all the ones you mentioned :S So, I was wondering. Should I throw away these products or can I still use them? What did you do with yours?

  • Hi there!!! Yeah, these ingredients can be found everywhere. I still kept mine. But I don't use them as often as other non-paraben, mineral ones. It's just because I'm such a blush junkie. But if they haven't caused you any irritation yet, you can probably still use it until you replace your collection w/ something not as harsh for your skin.

  • Ok, I'll do that. Thanks so much! ^^

  • thanks for the warning

  • ...thats scary!!, is it really so dangerous :( becuse ivé used produkts whit paraben in ! can i have been got cancer now??

  • There is a lot of evidence showing that paraben is linked to breast cancer. But it's not like you use products containing paraben, and boom, you get cancer. I'm certain to say that everyone has used products containing paraben some time in their lifetime. You'll probably either need a long period of exposure or be predisposed genetically. It's a matter of probability. I was just trying to raise the awareness.

  • almost everything on this planet is harmful in one way or another thats pretty much the way of life so bet if all of those preseratives were'nt in makeup very one would be complaning that their makeup rotted to fast

  • I do agree with you on some level. There's always two sides to everything.

  • omg. after i saw this video, i returned my eyeshadow palette cause there's paraben in it. i only thought that paraben only contains in skin products or foundation primers, not in powder eueshadows. They also contain vaseline in it, which is pretty weird. I though that Vaseline is a brand which sells Petroleum.

  • You are awsome I have been telling people about parabins and they thik I'm crazy. Please do a vid on department store brands I think you will have less of a chance of finding a ton of parabins. Let me know do you get what you pay for? I have never used drug store products before.

  • crappppppp i got that pink grapefruit stuff for her bday i just threw it away!

  • I read that paraben thing on FDA's website 2 days ago, because I am using some products that contain paraben. But thanks for the video!

  • could you do a video of safe products to use as cleansers, soaps, lotions, etc. I have redness and bumps on my cheeks and chin and I can't seem to find anything to make my skin clear.

  • Hey after seeing this video.. i went to check some of the products I have and surprisingly my johnson baby lotion had 3 parabens D=

  • Yeah, like I said, almost all lotions contain parabens. Without paraben, the shelf life of lotions would be extremely short, then it's just not practical to replace your lotion every few weeks....

  • oh no! almost all of my products contain paraben~ D:

  • I stopped using any product that contained talc because it was breaking me out. Thats also why i switched to everyday minerals foundation =]

  • Actually that's the same reason why I finally decided to give edm a try.

  • **oops i meant "an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure"

  • I definitely agree with you on that!

  • That is why when I made my video on Parabens, I said "controversy". There is a lot of debate on Paraben. As for me I choose not to use it, eventually it accumulates in the body.. in the long run.. A penny when added eventually becomes a dollar.. then a hundred.. I would rather be safe.. An ounce of cure is better than a pound of cure..

  • wow this is a scary fact to know!!! But thanks for making this video

  • risk relative to exposure to naturally occurring endocrine active chemicals (EACs) in the diet such as the phytoestrogen daidzein." In addition, the American Cancer Society has concluded that there is no good scientific evidence to support a claim that use of cosmetics such as antiperspirants increase an individual's risk of developing breast cancer.

  • However, no causal link with cancer has ever been proven and so far there is no scientific evidence to support any link with any form of cancer. A recent review of the available data has concluded "it is biologically implausible that parabens could increase the risk of any estrogen-mediated endpoint, including effects on the male reproductive tract or breast cancer" and that "that worst-case daily exposure to parabens would present substantially less

  • ok so I googled "paraben" and this is the info that I got...One scientific study reports that parabens were found in samples of breast tumors. The validity of the conclusions of this study have been debated in the scientific literature. Nevertheless, this study has fueled the belief that parabens in underarm deodorants or other cosmetics migrated into the breast tissue and contributed to the development of the tumors.

  • I just did a haul and I saw that the Jesse's Girl Bejeweled Quad and the Color my World eye shadows have 5 parabens and even the mask that I bought by Alba has paraben. =( I'm gonna have to return all these...I'm gonna try anyways. I hope they take it back.

  • Thank you so much for looking up the info. Yeah, I know paraben is not directly linked to cancer, so don't freak out about your new haul. XD It's only if we use these products continuously over a very long period of time, say 10-20 years? Then its harmful effects might start to emerge....

  • 10-20 years ^^ thats kinda good...the company change formula by then...or it gets discontinued...garnier used to have this pink lotion and it didn't have any parabhens in it but then they discontinued it:( i actually cried a couple of tears lol

  • that is so true! i read somewhere that US doesn't regulate the ingredients in cosemetics products as much as other countries like europe

  • wow.. this is scary... I almost wanted to quit my makeup use! So much paraben in my products ( i just checked) Can you do a video of products that can be safe to use??

  • Great video! Although we may not always have all the answers about these kinds of ingredients, it's good to talk about it and bring awareness to the possible problems they may cause.

  • great review

  • the reason why there's usu. many types of parabens is because they work better combined and so that the total concentration of preservatives can be reduced. i'd rather be paranoid than be sorry years later. if ur concerned about parabens specifically, you can try brands like fancl which r preservative-free, but of cuz exprires quickly.

  • Thank you for letting me know!

  • no prob! :)

  • you can put it in the fridge to make it last longer right?

  • i dunno. fancl's website contains expiry info about each product. usually 1 year unopened, and around 3 months ish after opening.

  • i c...but do you think it'll last longer in the fridge?

I know that this company called lush tries not to use preservatives and stuff and they turn their soaps into bars or they tell you to put it in the fridge to last longer...at least that's what the girl told me to do

  • I just did some research, and it seems like South Korea has developed a mini frige just for storing cosmetics, and they claim that the optimal shelf temperature for cosmetics is around 14 celsius... I'm pretty sure putting cosmetic products will slow down bacterial growth, but I'm really not sure what is the lowest temperature that cosmetic products can withstand.

  • i c...i was thinking about putting those mini fridges in my room and put my cosmetics in there...i think there is a temeperature thingie on fridges right? well anyhows you can always buy one and share with a bunch of people if you scared of wasting product ^^

  • for lush, it's usu. in jars, so you put your fingers in there, & bacteria gets in. with fancl, they're usu. in pumps or tubes, so bacteria cant really get in in the 1st place. so i don't think frige storing these types of container will help. :)

  • i c...but i use a spatula or spoon to spoon the product instead of my fingers...usually metal so i can kill bacteria off of it with boiling water

  • parabens are not highly associated with cancer. scientists have found little paraben evidence in some breast cancer tissues but they have no way to prove paraben correlates with cancer. however, just to be cautious limit products that contain parabens.

  • Thanks for this video!

    :]

  • i beleive that in the maybelline dream matte mouse foundation has 3 paraben. is that alot?

  • WOW! OMG! THANK YOUUU SO MUCH!<333

  • Very informative video. Thank you. (:

  • i can ask my mom about paraben she is a doctor and she has her own practice, i can ask her and il get bac to you to be 100 percent sure with paraben. cause my mom knows alot about makeup..and usally things cant cause cancer,,,u get cancer from diffrent organs inside ur body .

  • thats soo cool!

    hope to get your response!

  • well, some ingredients in the makeup are carcinogenic which may 'leads' to cancer. yes, things can't cause cancer but it may 'leads' to cancer.
