Just get an alakazam, i beat the whole elite 4 with that pokemon and an umbreon.

Alakazam is effective against poison (koga) and fighting.

scyther is better, even though it don't matter any more, but scyther is faster and the only stat enhnacement is a little bit of special defense.

Meh if you were going to evolve scyther it should have been the level it learned wing attack. That way it would also have learned metal claw and had steel stab. You could have gotten a moonstone from behind the strength rock in the cavern before the town with the slowpoke well.
