Have a look at the other vortex tube videos that I made. I have a smaller tube with instructions detailing how I built it. There is a lot of info on my blog as well!

  • Around 54 seconds there is a moan. What was that?

  • @grant31781

Sounds like I have captured conclusive evidence or paranormal activity in and around the garage area of my house!!! ;-)

Actually that was kids playing XBox live in the living room and expressing their angst at being 'taken out' by a competitor. Throughout the video you can hear the "thrill of victory and the agony of defeat" in the background... a fitting soundtrack for my experiments. - Otto Belden

  • great video. would have liked to see this working.

  • @the1cyrus Thanks! I did build another smaller tube and have a video of it running on my site:

"How To Make: Vortex Cooling Tube / Thermal Images .wmv"

Have a look and let me know what you think!

  • Takeyamaster - I got about a 15c temp difference between the two ends when I ran this vortex tube about a year ago. I don't have my notes from back then so I don't recall the ambient temp. I used a dual thermocouple meter at my work to make the measurements.

On my blog there is more info about building a vortex tube and links to lots more info on line. Read the comments under the posts as well for more info. Good luck and be careful!

  • tanx.. i'm a student and vortex tube is my final year project... using PVC, what is the coolest and hottest temperature it can get???

  • can i see it working?

  • @koreanbeater

Maybe someday I'll make a video of it running and measure the airflow and pressure needed to get it working. Right now I don't have it set up and I am busy doing other things - check out my blog ottobelden.blogspot for more info about the tube if you are interested!

    thanks - Otto
