toller and scotty both said we wouldn't see another jumper like midori in 50 years. well, it's 20 years down, 30 to go, and they were so right. on a good day, tonya could come close, but there was just something about midori's jumps -- so tight, so on axis, so fast, so high -- that made them the best ever. Kudos!

@Aldobrandini Tonya doesn't even come close. Tonya's triple axel is so lop-sided in the air it makes it look so sloppy. Midori is truly the queen of that jump. Midori proved in practice that she could do a triple-axel triple-toe combination! Simply the best!

Tonya had a lot more power and a bit more height on her jumps than Midori. In practice (as well as SA 91 and Worlds 91) the triple axels Tonya landed were simply unbelievable. Check out her practice session from Nationals 94 and you'll see what I mean. However, Midori, by far, was a much stronger combination jumper (Tonya could rarely land a triple triple save for nationals 88 and nationals 91) whereas Midori was landing them at 12 years of age and in exhibitions.
