another instance of japanese who see a foreigner and "just want to practice their english" with him....i wouldn't mind such a thing per se if i was in Japan...but i just want to point out that, in my experience, when Japanese are in USA and someone comes up to them to "try out" their (very faulty) nihongo, they do not take too kindly to it. The few times i've tried this in USA i've gotten a polite but negative reaction. I gave up trying this long ago...
