@rthalor Yeah. I actually know someone whose father's skull was crushed when a camel grabbed his head in its mouth and threw him. Thankfully he survived and recovered. This was done by a bull camel though. My male is castrated and I raised him to respect me.

They really are sweet creatures. I had a pet camel of my own for a little while before he came down sick with something that the vets didn't know what was.

Camels are so often misrepresented as being aggressive animals when they really aren't. You can hug them and they hug you back even by wrapping their necks around you. Not once did my camel attack anyone or not approach anyone. Really great animals.

I got curious, if you don't mind: Based on the little I heard I was under the impression they are temperamental, is she? Does she get along with other animals, dogs/horse (if exposed)? Is she the only one w/ u? Because she is like a pet does she require a lot attention like dogs? How expensive to keep her? How did you get her? How many years are they expect to live? Cheers

Camels have a reputation of being ornery because most people's only interaction with them is on holiday (or at war) in other countries where they're sometimes mistreated. She gets along with others, but horses tend not to like camels (at least not at first but sometimes never). I have two camels and I don't believe they should be kept alone. Yearly expense is about the same as a horse, maybe slightly more because of specialty items.

@tubeyoutubi Nessie especially demands a lot of attention, but since she has another camel friend I suppose it wouldn't be necessary that I gave it to her. Personality wise they do act like a big dog and she would follow me back in the house if she could fit through the door. They live at least 40 years and I got both of mine from a veterinarian that breeds them.
