Personally I'm not a very big fan of AFI. Not a fan at all actually. I am however a very hardcore fan of NIN and I will say that this cover isn't bad. I think AFI did pretty well with this cover. 4/5 on my list. Thanks for the upload!

yea i miss davey's STS days. I mean, I'll always love the band no matter what...that's just when i think he looked best physically. i was envious of his hair haha. I remember when I first heard this cover I FLIPPED OUT. I loooove NIN. And it was one of my favorite songs from them. so when this came on the radio i was literally freaking out and breathless. AFI are always reinventing themselves, and those who can't handle that aren't true fans.

Damn....lotta haters here. For me personally I really really liked this one. AFI and NIN have both brought me through some really sick dark times for me. And they both have changed the way I both write and listen to music, taking the dark poeticness of lyricism from AFI and the ferocity of NIN has, I believe made me a better artist. And I personally love it when a band or an artist becomes so inspired by another artists work that they make it their own, as AFI did with NIN here. Good job.
Ok. OK! All I have to say is that I'm a hardcore NIN fan and have been since around 1998 (I'm only 22 therefore I got into them a little later than most). Nonetheless, I've seen them numerous times, have everything they released, have a shrine dedicated to Trent, the whole shebang! So coming from a diehard NIN fan, this version rocks!! AFI are an incredible band, The Art Of Drowning is a masterpiece. My suggestion to haters would be to 1.) open your mind and 2.) get a life.

I'm a big NIN fan, so naturally I prefer the original but this is better than many other NIN covers I've heard. I also like how they didn't try to make into a remix like lots of other bands do.
I haven't heard any remixes of this song. I think making a cover version is a little more respectful than remixing (and possibly ruining) a good song. AFI mostly does very skilled and faithful covers of songs they like.
I prefer this version.. and besides - they didnt choose to write it - The makers of Grand Theft Auto came to them and asked for them to make a cover of it to use on the game

I have to admit that this is not the best song for them to cover. It just doesn't go with their style. But since they are my favorite band, I have to give them credit for having the balls to cover this iconic NIN song. That's your opinion of course. But I disagree completely. It doesn't make any sense to judge this band based on a cover song. Bands cover songs often. A.F.I didn't copy this song outright, so it sounds different from the original. And also, they are quite mature as a band....as you would notice if you listened to other songs by them. Example- Compare "Cruise Control" with "Kill Caustic". You will see what I mean.

I was listening to both versions of this song the other day and I decided that the biggest difference is the vocals. Trent's voice has a gritty grunge feel and Davey's voice is rather clear and more delicate. And the band made it like one of their own songs as far as the music goes, instead of copying the original outright. I like both versions.
Oh, I didn't know it was on there. If you want to check out some of AFI's original music I highly recommend the album Sing The Sorrow. It's an amazing album that really showcases the band's talent. Much better, in fact than any song they have covered including this one.
Im a huge fan of both bands, and both versions sof the song, but afi did it slightly better. I think with Daveys higher voice, it seemed to have more to it than the original.

Im slowly starting to get into AFI. No that i realized they made a cover of this my respect for them has gone up. The fact that they listen to Nine Inch Nails is pretty awesome in itself.

yea i miss davey's STS days. I mean, I'll always love the band no matter what...that's just when i think he looked best physically. i was envious of his hair haha. I remember when I first heard this cover I FLIPPED OUT. I loooove NIN. And it was one of my favorite songs from them. so when this came on the radio i was literally freaking out and breathless. AFI are always reinventing themselves, and those who can't handle that aren't true fans.

Damn....lotta haters here. For me personally I really really liked this one. AFI and NIN have both brought me through some really sick dark times for me. And they both have changed the way I both write and listen to music, taking the dark poeticness of lyricism from AFI and the ferocity of NIN has, I believe made me a better artist. And I personally love it when a band or an artist becomes so inspired by another artists work that they make it their own, as AFI did with NIN here. Good job.

Ok. OK! All I have to say is that I'm a hardcore NIN fan and have been since around 1998 (I'm only 22 therefore I got into them a little later than most). Nonetheless, I've seen them numerous times, have everything they released, have a shrine dedicated to Trent, the whole shebang! So coming from a diehard NIN fan, this version rocks!! AFI are an incredible band, The Art Of Drowning is a masterpiece. My suggestion to haters would be to 1.) open your mind and 2.) get a life.

I'm a big NIN fan, so naturally I prefer the original but this is better than many other NIN covers I've heard. I also like how they didn't try to make into a remix like lots of other bands do.

I haven't heard any remixes of this song. I think making a cover version is a little more respectful than remixing (and possibly ruining) a good song. AFI mostly does very skilled and faithful covers of songs they like.

I have to admit that this is not the best song for them to cover. It just doesn't go with their style. But since they are my favorite band, I have to give them credit for having the balls to cover this iconic NIN song. I try not to have high expectations of cover songs as a rule, given the fact that a cover is an interpretation and will therefore translate different according to who is performing the song.

That's your opinion of course. But I disagree completely. It doesn't make any sense to judge this band based on a cover song. Bands cover songs often. A.F.I didn't copy this song outright, so it sounds different from the original. And also, they are quite mature as a band....as you would notice if you listened to other songs by them. Example- Compare "Cruise Control" with "Kill Caustic". You will see what I mean.

I was listening to both versions of this song the other day and I decided that the biggest difference is the vocals. Trent's voice has a gritty grunge feel and Davey's voice is rather clear and more delicate. And the band made it like one of their own songs as far as the music goes, instead of copying the original outright. I like both versions.

Oh, I didn't know it was on there. If you want to check out some of AFI's original music I highly recommend the album Sing The Sorrow. It's an amazing album that really showcases the band's talent. Much better, in fact than any song they have covered including this one.
