I absolutely LOVE David!! He sings with such passion and is very humble and loves what he does. I had the opportunity to meet him years ago on his Joy to the World tour when he was in Kannapolis NC and he took time to speak to my father(who passed away about a month later) and signed a shirt for him. @Chriscjs What is the point of singing a song like this with no emotion. If he had everyone would be complaining that it obviously held no real meaning for him. By the way he was a VOCAL PERFORMANCE MAJOR in college so he was trained to put his heart into what he sang. Obviously his singing was a blessing to those in the audience and the other singers on stage and the song had as much meaning for them as it did for David. I didn't find it 'entertaining' but it certainly was emotional for me.

David is a musician's musician, and a beyond-amazing singer.....such a technician, and so very consistent..... If David "praised his own singing" ... his voice will no longer have the same passion.

Yet another reason why the tried and true hymns of the faith - ones like this that have been around for decades will always be the ones that touch people's hearts. So much of so-called "contemporary" Christian music is just fluff and noise, and really does Christianity a DISservice by cheapening the powerful message with pounding drums, screaming trumpets, dancing backup singers,etc.

I really am sick to my stomach over this comment. I play the "pounding drums" in Christian Worship bands. The people that have written "contemporary" Christian songs, most of the time, write due to a conviction or a word that God has given them just like the writer of this song, or It Is Well or How Great Thou Art, etc. This guy that you are writing about is actually singing Contemporary Christian music now.
