As much as 10,000 could be, you must remember that each female sardine can lay 60,000 eggs! I have personally witnessed a fishing boat pulling out 300 metric tons of sardine in only one try... that means aproximately two million sardines. The sin is that in some countries they use it for making fishmeal!
