  • why are some tags japanese

  • some tags are japanese, why????

  • Thank you!

  • Could you put the download link on MediaFire? Cause RapidShare Does not seem to work for me.

  • hey can you make the normal trumpet match the base octave or tell me how to please

  • Where is The Download Link?

  • HELP!!!!!!!

I did all instructions in the readme and I can't hear any instruments!

  • Well, take the new .sf2 and name it soundset3.sf2. Nothing else. then take the old .sf2 and name it something else, as long as it has .sf2 on the end. Now take the new .sf2 and put it in the same folder as Mario Paint Composer. Hope the helped :)

  • kawaiiiiiiiii ~~~

  • EHH EHH!

    I kill you!

    I LAUGHED MY ASS OFF!!

  • i just cant seem to download it from there -_-

  • Okay. I've put this on my computer, but I can't figure out how to run it. Help?

  • can you give me a link to the program or tell me how to make a soundset? ty!

  • you got a high quality soundfont for mpc 2.0?

  • read video description.

  • description says nothing about mpc 2.0

  • *sigh*

Under recent changes, in Plus 1.13 & Orchestra v1.03:

    - Added note extensions for new notes in MPC2.0

I've made my soundfonts compatible with 2.0 ever since I heard about it, which was back in September.

  • i meant do you have one that contains high quality pirahna, shy guy and boo? your mochi does not include these instruments

  • and coin...

  • oh, I suppose I could do that, although I don't have any place to get high quality recordings of the extra sounds, so the only thing I would do is fix the volume on them. The reason I kept it the way it is now is because I wanted to keep it strictly all Mario Paint sounds. (My Mochi soundfont is the only one that strictly coheres with what the original Mario Paint would sound like, hence the extra work with the boats and mushrooms)

  • that should have been your first reply. well... thanks anyway

  • The swans sound kind of like a harpsichord (can I get a spell check on that?).

  • saw this.

    immediet download

    + a 5/5

  • Thanks for the new Orchestra set! I've already made two MPC songs with it! They're both in the video responses if you wanna check them out. Nice! :D

  • I really liked the orchestra set (I do think that you took my aforementioned idea :P) and I plan to use it when I make future compositions. However, there was one major flaw that made me shrug it off- all the notes are sustained far too long. A little sustain (as in MPlus v1.0e) is nice, and I know that this was intended for use with low A, but I really don't want to x12 the tempo and have a silent, confusing kalimba or choir baby (my idea again, laughs) every other beat. Otherwises, I like it.

  • Well, if you think its too long, and don't want to cut it abruptly you can always use the volume controls and gradually fade it out. The long held out note actually comes in pretty handy for some songs. Also, if I shorten the duration then I don't have room for the vibrato effects, so..in this set its here to stay.

  • I am making a version of Lower Norfair (SNES Metroid) with this. Holy shit- it is epically accurate.

Hopefully no one beats me to it- and if they do, I'll release it anyway- this post confirms that I had the idea originally :D

  • Actually, I was working on a midi version of that song back in June. I finished halfway then I stopped working on it. (I didn't find it suitable in MPC at the time since I couldn't sustain notes...well that's certainly changed hasn't it?)

lol, I find that a bit ironic. Perhaps we have similar tastes in music?

  • :P

    All I gotta say.

  • This is amazing. Thanks a million. GO PLANET!

  • Orchestra set will be out VERY soon! Encoding the video right now.

  • I got it to work :D. Thanks.

  • You accidentally put a space in the download link.

  • I hate youtube. I try to fix but it only keeps messing up the download link. try copying and pasting it in your browser and fix any spaces that are in the link, and it should work.

    I don't believe this crap...

  • YouTube likes to be a bitch, doesn't it? Right now the problems I'm having with YouTube seems to be involved with the YouTube Multi Uploader and some text issues.

  • I replaced the soundfont and it doesnt work.

  • If you want me to diagnose the problem you need to provide more information than that. What did you do exactly?

  • I downloaded the soundfont and renamed it to soundset, but Vista wouldn't replace the other one. I deleted the original (it was sitting in the recycle bin), but then the new soundfont didnt work. I restored the original, and it went back to the original sounds. So then I went to you for help :D. And BTW I did read the Readme.

  • get a new OS. lol, nah..uhh, let's see..

I'm hoping Vista still has similar commands as 2k and XP, so try on the folder, Tools, Options, View tab, and uncheck the box "Hide file extensions for known file types"

After OKing that, double check and make sure the file extension says .sf2 along with the new soundset. I'm thinking it got messed up somewhere along the line there.

  • It seems that a high C# will keep on playing regardless of anything after it even the low A glitch can't stop it. It's a bit anoying.

  • yeah, it is..its the fault of MPC itself and not the soundfont. You can get around it though by having a low volume high C# (or low Bb, that glitches as well) right after the offending note. It'll still play, just quietly, so it won't interfere with the music.

  • Thanks, never would thought it was the program's fault

  • OMG TEH SWANS R 1337 :3

  • This videos pwnz =3 5/5

  • its awesome i love it!

  • @ 1:50

    c-c-c-c-frusted botts

  • How do I install this? What do I do After I've downloaded The zip folder?

  • You have switch the soundset.sf2 in the Mario Paint Composer PC Folder with the one of your choice from the Zip Folder. Rename the the new Soundset "soundset.sf2", just how I spelled it in the quotes.

  • yes. very nice sound improvements

  • I tried it out, sounds good. I'd make the geese a little louder.

  • Upon further examining (mo' like listening to how it makes the sound I'm making much more awesome), I'd say Gameboys needs a little volume boost too. They were pretty strong instruments in the original Mario paint composer, but now they're sounding a bit too weak. Aside from that, I'd say it's perfect.

  • So can the swans still make there old sound too? I like both

  • you can use the 1.05 patch for the original sounds.

  • Woah, wait just one moment.

    *contemplates scenario*

    ..

    *prevents brain failure*

    ..

    *recontemplates*

    ..

I'm sorry. What you're trying to say just doesn't compute. It's MY fault that you opened the soundfont in notepad because you couldn't follow directions?

That makes as much sense as blaming Santa because you decided to open your present with a sledgehammer instead of pulling the ribbon. (oh, and fyi, Santa isn't real. I hope that didn't spoil anything for you.)

  • If you seriously want to get this to work, redownload the soundfont package, reread and follow (most important part) all directions, and just maybe everything will work out for you. At this point I can't guarantee anything.

    ..Good luck!

  • This changes my perception of reality!

    ..

    O_o

  • Its alright Grimace. Everything will be okay. *hands him an Octorok shaped gingerbread cookie*

    :D :D :D

... :D (say it, you know you want to)

  • Lol, ur funny. SANTA DOESNT EXIST?!?!?!?!??! WTF THATS A LIE =3

  • The most trivial problem in the world, and you cannot fix it. Do you use the computer for anything else besides the internet? Just download 7-zip, WinRAR, any free compression program, and extract the sound font from the zip file. You DON'T use notepad because words DO NOT equal sound, got that? Now I have to go take some asprin because you're trying to be annoying, and it's actually getting to me.

  • Tuning correctly fixed in 1.11 =) Thanks!

(I also like the dog chorus!)

  • still in its beginning stages..still sounds like a dog in an echo chamber instead of a full blown chorus

  • Where is the soundfont directory explained in the Readme?

  • search for "Mario Paint" in Google and download the MPC program. It was designed with that program in mind, or any other program that uses .sf2

  • no, I already HAVE composer. just, which file are the soundfonts in.

  • In the MPC folder (the folder with MPC in it, not the folder before or any folder after), you should find a file called "soundset.sf2". Backup that file and replace it with the desired sound font. You also have to rename the new sound font to soundset.

  • Are the soundfonts those HUUGE Codes?

  • No, they're sound fonts. Sound fonts are a collection of sounds, I thought you might have gotten that from the word SOUND fonts. Do you think you can create sounds with letters, symbols and numbers? I told you the name of the file, it's not in the folder "prefs", it's in the folder "Mario Paint Composer". The sound font is called "soundset.sf2", do you understand?

  • OK! just one more thing. I turned it into a notepad document. how do I fix? cuz, now my composer doesn't have sound

  • What?! OH NO! You turned it into, of all things, a TXT DOCUMENT?!?

Looks like you're SOL, unless you can answer these following questions.

A good plumber always has the right _______ for the job.

Word 1: "Best flavor of ice cream - v + m" is a type of one of these

Word 2: 5th powerup in Gradius.

James Bond in: A ____ to a Kill.

Snake would do this, were it booby trapped, + Un

Snake would also do this with previous said item.

    :3 Smooth nails

extensions (rng out of txt..haha, get it?)

  • Finally, Ness and yourself proudly exclaim this catch phrase! :þ

  • Is this Freeeeeeeeee??? :3

  • The new version seems to be in tune.

  • yay. I know I could purposely tune all the instruments in equal temperament but I'm not sure how most people would react to it. I definitely have another project in mind to add to this, so stay tuned. :) (of course, maybe I'd be the only one interested in it)

  • swans suppose to sound like ochestra hit but not like guitar, but i think its a taste question

  • Ideas for new soundfront sounds: Mario= Piano Mushroom= Drum (What else?) Yoshi= Bells Starman= Choir Vocals Flower= Trumpets Game Boy= Synth Pad? Dog= Power Guitar Cat= Tuba Pig= Violin Swan= Baby= Plane= Harp (Not the single tone one, one that STRUMS!) Ship= Cymbals Car= Whistle
  • What can I say? Youtube is being antagonistic again.

    Ideas for new sounds:

    Mario= Piano Mushroom= Drums Yoshi= Bells

    Star= Choir Vocals Flower= Trumpets

GB= Synth Pad Dog= Electric Guitar Cat= Tuba

Pig= Violin Swan= Same as this, but in tune

Baby= Banjo Plane= Harp (one that STRUMS!)

    Ship= Cymbals Car= Whistle Heart= Slap Bass

I know it seems to degrade the point of MPC, but this would mean less unused instruments.:)

  • Did anyone else think about Close Encounters of the Fourth Kind when listening to the flowers at 1:15?

  • I have the same problem as YeOldeBowser..

  • Now you can make metal guitar noises in MPC with the swans!! ROCK ON!!

  • It's not working correctly for me. Only the original Soundset seems to work, for some reason. After replacing it with one of your soundsets, the only sound it makes is the clicking sound for when I start and stop the songs. Any suggestions?

Your soundset still sounds awesome, by the way :)

  • By original did you mean the one that comes with MPC? or my 1.05 soundfont?

The only reason I can think of that it would make the clicking sound and no music is that the soundfont was renamed incorrectly, or that it was placed in the wrong folder. Make sure one of my soundfonts is renamed "soundset.sf2" and is placed in the "Mario Paint Composer PC" directory along with the exe file.

  • ok thanks.. i didn't rename it :P Silly me.

  • Oh... stupid me. Forgot to rename it XD

    Thanks for your help!

  • You need to rename the new file "soundset.sf2". Exactly how I spelt it there. Then it should work.

  • I've got exactly the same problem...

  • I in general liked it, but the fading notes get overthrown by the other instruments like ships and mushrooms (except for the Mario, which is too overpowering). The swans sound out of tune (although they sound great, they could use some fixing). Also, the babys and animals sound weird with the echos. I think they shound go back to the way they were.

    Other suggestions:

-change a baby completely to sound like choir vocalizing? That would be cool. :)

  • I did add extra power to the mushrooms and boats in general, and is probably the only instruments that aren't the same volume wise to everything else. That's because in general, the bass and treble need to be powerful enough to compete with the rest of the music. (its possible the boats are weaker compared to my previous update though)

  • the swans are a trouble area. they were REALLY out of tune before, but I thought this batch was more acceptable. And the animal echoes, I had the low A glitch in mind..there are possibly some new tricks you can do with the echo.

Honestly I'm scared of the idea of a face choir. Unless I was doing a horror composition, or an orgy of some kind, I'm staying faaar away from that ^^; I have been trying to get the dog to do that effect, but its hard to find the right loop point.

  • I think the choir idea would be great. Something like singing "Ahhhh" or "Ohhh" could be used easily in a lot of compositions.

  • Baby choir, lol.

  • This is quite the thing to come back from vacation to find! Great stuff here. I downloaded 1.05 (not the echo one) and I can notice a great difference in the quality of the notes. The volume balancing is also welcome, but it may acutally be something I miss. If all of the instruments are the same volume, and individual notes can not be tweaked, then it will be difficult to make a cartain part of the song prominent.

  • For example my SM64 bomb-ob song relies on the fact that the gameboys are loud in order to hear the melody. I listened to it with the new soundfont and the melody seemed a bit drowned out. I don't think there's much you can do about this since MPC can't assign a volume for each note on a beat, but I still applaud you for your projects. I'm looking foward to some more edits in the future!

  • Oh but I just realised the 1.1e pack is just what I needed to make one of my favorite songs! Oh now I'm really excited! I guess a new effort we all have to put into composing is what soundset we have to use. Bravo!

  • I have a question, what would the dogs, cats, and pigs sound like if you extended their sound like the other instruments? I can't see extending the face or yoshi since it's more or less 2 parts, but those might sound interesting.

Also, part of the reason the notes might be getting sharp or flat is that you pared down the soundset. Yes, it had more sound samples than necessary, but if MPC has an improper tone-changing algorithm (it might), the additional anchor notes caused less dissonance.

  • it wasn't the sound configurations I changed, but there were actual wave files that weren't used anywhere in the set, so it was useless in keeping them.

As for the animals, I'm actually experimenting with it right now to get a good echo going. So for I simply "looped the samples" so you can get a repeat sound (2nd half of the Yoshis and the face)..it is a lot harder to get a hold note like the rest of the instruments due to them being a "voice" sample instead of something more synthesized.

  • I might note that in 1.1e I did get rid of the extra "tonal sounds" in order to shrink the size even more. The only reason the original author did that was so the notes wouldn't end up being too slow or too fast in the extreme low/high ends. But since I've created a set hold/decay timer with loop points, it isn't an issue.

I almost have 1.1e finished for another update. Need to finish tuning the Marios and Stars (both pitch and volume) and make some Mushrooms and Boat changes and it'll be set.

  • I just tried out 1.1e and the stars are still really out of tune (but don't worry about it too much) The new drums sound much crisper and VERY different, and the boats sound really nice. I think that a combination of this MP+ and the original MPC soundset will make the best songs.

  • by out of tune do you mean the resonance with the note? or that its louder than the others?

This was part of the dilemma I had, but basically any octaves that are higher will naturally be dominant in the song..I was tuning with that in mind and made sure two similar notes were on the same octave (ie Swan and Star, etc) and matched them within .25 db. The cats are probably too soft now though..but anyway, if I hear enough suggestions or complaints about it I'll tone down the star volume.

  • I guess the resonance; putting a high A Mario and a mid A star generates the same effect as theEvilGrimace described.

  • oh, okay. That would be a cinch to fix. I can adjust the cents of the wave file to tweak it as I please. More than likely though its the particular segment that I'm looping that's causing it to be out of tune.

  • What are you talking about? 1.05e kicks ass! I'm used it to test my Boulevard of Broken Dreams portion and it sounded great. I'm using the swans for distortion guitar. I haven't had any bad sounding things come from 1.05e yet.

  • Some of the voices are something close to 30 cents sharp or flat (creates oscillation or dissonance) Like I said, place a mario on highA and a star on midA and you can easily tell how far apart they are.

(Good luck with the fixings Satoshi, I'm excited =P)

  • Just used 1.05e for the first time. MAJOR tuning issues. Stars and flowers are higher than the marios gameboys planes and hearts. Try placing a mario on high A and a star on mid A.

  • goes to show that I can't trust Awave's own tuning algorithm. I'll get right on it.

  • it doesn't work

  • where do i have to put the files in to let it work?

  • place them in the Mario Paint Composer PC folder, and replace "soundset.sf2" with the one you want to use (make sure you backup the old one first)

  • what means backup?

  • ..*sigh* To make an additional copy of.

  • Can the flower hold it's note without fading?

  • if you place several notes in a row it can hold the note, but I integrated the fade effect with the flower..you would have to cut the note short using low A glitch to prevent the fade effect.

  • Hey, you know what would also be nice? If you could get rid of that clicking sound when pressing play. I'm sure I'm not the only MPC user who would appreciate that.

  • That's part of the MPC program itself and not the soundfont. I didn't find that sound when I was editing, unfortunately. :(

I can simply edit it out though. As you can see none of my MP videos have it.

  • But if you learn how to program flash...

  • Whoa! Downloading now...

This is handy because I forgot my VGA to HDMI converter for my computer, so I got absolutely no composing done over the weekend, so I can test this pack out on a new composition.

*Excited for the new swans, hoping the boats are MUCH more prominent mid-range*

I'll let you know what I think!

  • To be honest, the swans are going to take some getting used to (It seems their volume was increased or something, making it overpower other instruments even more than before), and low mario heads sometimes sound sour.

But of course, there's a lot of good along with the bad. This makes lengthy gameboys and flowers so easy; no volume control or high speeds needed. I'm going to probably miss planes being softer than other instruments, giving that much-needed soft harmony sound.

  • I realize the swans needed some tweaking when I was listening to ihasmario's Rickroll..the swans ended up being way too loud in the Extended version. Or, are you saying they're loud in the regular version also? I can always put out new versions with suggestions people have.

Regarding the Mario heads, are you saying they're out of tune?

  • I was testing the extended version above. The basic without extended notes... I'm enjoying and have no complaints.

As for the Mario heads in the extended version, there's something about them that seems off for notes... say, G and below? I don't know if it's a tonal discrepancy, I never was that great at picking out pitch.

The mario head is still the same sound as in the original, just extended?

  • I think I found the problem. I was looking at the looping points and for some reason when I save the file it gets slightly broken up...so it isn't a seamless loop. That's what's causing the dissonance to occur. I commend your good ears for picking that up ^^

*sigh* only thing is..if its happened to the Mario heads, then EVERYTHING ELSE is out of sync too. Stupid program..my work will never get finished at this rate..

  • Hey, this is nice, to have a link for people to download it, I like to modify the soundfont with real orchestra sounds, Guess I´ll have a look at your 1.0e

  • well, its not really Mario Paint unless you use its sounds. I know I'm starting to stretch it with modifying it with effects and such, but..this certainly will make compositions easier.

  • I still love the swan. The extended version is awesome!

  • coool

  • Yes, it's nice... BUT WHY DID YOU PROGRAM IT TO FEEL LOVE AND PAIN?!
