The cops did a GREAT job. I say that because I live in the city and I was fortunate enough that my windows did not get broken. Can't say the same for others. We were NOT happy that the G20 summit was here, but even more unhappy with the protestors who smashed windows, dumped garbage, and disrupted traffic in my neighborhood. Thankfully, nobody was seriously injured or killed. Great job Pittsburgh Police and all the other agencies that lent officers.

You're right, our founding fathers did warn of these atrocities being thrown on us by our "Leaders". The 2nd amendment wasn't put there for the reasons of hunting, it was written to let you stop tyrant thugs from hunting your family. Also, if war did break out, the people would be more of a force than you think. Our military is understaffed as it is, and passion for liberty can make few men like hundreds. Although blacks were technically freed during the Civil war, they did not gain civil rights until the 1960's, They gained these rights, chiefly through protest and demonstration.
Many were killed, but THEY, our side used non-violence, for the most part.
And won.

Non-violent is a misnomer. Both movements involved acts of violence by the followers.
Followers of both movements were met with violence, incarceration and death even when maintaining a peaceful nature. In other words, they paid the same price as violent resistance.
India's non-violent fight for independence from the British took 30 years.
America's violent fight for independence from the British took 8 years....

I don't think protesters should resort to violence. BUT, if every protester exercised their 2nd amendment right while using their 1st amendment right, the police would HAVE to stand down. That the British quit India has more to do with them being drained by the end of WW2 than Ghandi's (not always peaceful) movement. It was that not-always part that the British feared at that time.
