@K186 I did TKD BTW I know the martial art & sport pretty well but it's because I do that I also know its flaws. No matter how skilled one & no matter how much power you have, a kick with the instep is inferior to a kick with the shin. Also, yes, he may K.O. me but he'd have to do it in a particular way e.g. hit my head. Muay Thai techniques will crush through any guard causing severe tissue damage and even breaking bone . . . that's the difference between TKD & Muay Thai. :-)

Taekwondo on the other hand uses mainly just kicks and whaile it has lots of variety of kicks, it lacks hand techniques. That's where arts like wing chun, parying mantis and even american boxing come into play.Yes, a kick is a kick but the way a person kicks is the art

@Ronin6575 In TaeKwonDo the only legal strike with the hands would be a punch to the chest, but you can see from the fighting style that getting in close enough to do that would be risky because the opponent could kick you before you got that close, so punches are rarely seen in TKD sparring. Also, they are sometimes assigned a lesser point value or zero points, depending on the scoring system.

The guy in red kicks mostly with his right leg throughout the whole fight, which is not necessarily bad but unlike the guy in blue he wouldn't fake a kick or anything, he'd just take a stance and blue already knew it would be the right leg coming up. Under pressure as well, the guy in red would quickly turn to his strong leg (right) to keep some distance, which is not necessarily bad but like i said it became predictable enough for the blue guy to counter.

I love Tae Kwon Do for its insistence on speed, power, and technique, but hate its forbidding of hand techniques to the head. There were several times when one competitor had closed the distance, and an elbow/punch to the opponent's head would've been devastating. But under the rules, he can't throw them.

That being said, both fighers were enormously skilled. Each had kicks that were fast, non-telegraphed, and were frequently thrown in combinations.
