If she never had what she wanted, she would've never seen 40. She just wouldn't have had the will to live if she really gave up Charles and Eliza. She did have Eliza. She never gave her up. Perhaps the reason we don't know the truth is maybe that viper Bess got a backbone and kept her mouth shut about G marrying Charles and keeping Eliza.
Why did she tell the Duke the child was Charles's? Georgiana should've slept with the Duke so he'd have no reason to think the child wasn't his. If the child were a son, he would raise it. And what's with Bess just standing there while they're kidnapping Eliza? Who knows what happened really. Maybe G and Charles did get together. We werent' there so how do we know?
I just saw this movie yesterday and it broke my heart! I think I cried for entire last hour of the film. I hate that Georgiana and Charles didn't end up together! What I couldn't figure out was if Charles knew Eliza was his or not...anyways great video and it was very clever to use Kiera as both women!
Charles did know that Eliza was his, his family raised her. Eliza grew up thinking Charles was an older brother and Georgiana an old family friend who visited them often. Charles wasnt as devoted and romantic as the movie shows him, but they did care for each other and remained friends till Georgiana's death.
I did and its very good. I read lots of non-fiction bios so I really liked it. It goes into much much more deeper issues Georgiana and the Duke, and the whole 'ton' (society's elite) had. Georgiana's life was much more difficult than the film dares to portray and her children were deeply affected by her decisions which tormented her, anyways, its why i love this vid so much. You hit it right on the nail. Eliza was the happiest of all her children.
i really hope youll submit it or a revised one if youre not happy with it, since its very beautiful. I loved the end, especially. Its quite ironic that Eliza Courtney was the happiest of Georgiana's children. Shes the only one who had a truly happy marriage and life. She was also believed to be the most beautiful of her children.
How could Eliza be happy when her grandparents lied and tortured her all her life. How could they be so cruel not to tell her Georgiana was her mother for those years? Eliza needed her mother. The Greys should never have taken her. They were cruel and foolish not to see what they were doing. I don't think Eliza was happy. Would you be happy if your grandparents lied to you and you only learned of your real mother after she was dead? Eliza must've been tormented, poor girl!
She grew up to be a happy woman whose husband loved her, unlike the unhappy circumstances the other children of Georgiana faced as adults. And her grandparents werent cruel to take her, it was actually for the best. You have the understand the rules society played by in Georgian England. If they had not taken her, she would have been an outcast, bt she married well and was loved. Either way, a child growing up without the birth parent is not an unhappy child as long as they still have love.
But it's cruel that they kept such an important secret from her until her mother was dead. She needed her mother's love most and her grandparents stole it from her all her life. They fed her lies every day. That's not love. I don't see how snatching a baby from her mother is for the best. Eliza didn't need her foolish grandparents. I think the only way she could've been happy is because of Georgiana.
It wasn't really her grandparents who kept the truth from her so much as it was The Duke of Devonshire. He was one of the most powerful men in all of England, and to have a wife who would cheat on him would be a public humiliation. Georgiana was forced into giving Eliza away, not by the Grey's, but by her own husband. Women in Georgian england had little to no rights, and were controlled by the men in their lives. The Grey's were being kind by taking Eliza and raising her as their own (cont)
Still, they were away from the Duke, so what could he do if they told Eliza the truth? She should've been told the truth. The Greys still took Eliza and they shouldn't have. Eliza was crying when they snatched her. She didn't like being seperated from her mother. They should've let Georgiana keep Eliza instead of torturing them both. Who cares about the rotten Duke? He's dumb if he thinks he can seperate a mother and child. The Greys should not have done what they did.
Also, why would you tell a child that? HOW would you tell a child that? Growing up knowing that you are illegitimate and your mother abandoned you? It would be tremendously heartbreaking, and I think they let her believe she was a normal child. You really shouldn't tell a child something like that until they're mature enough to understand it properly. Plus, it'd be a risk to tell a child her real mother was Georgiana. It's likely she'd tell others, and ruin everything.
Georgaina didn't abandon her. And Jack Nicholson had the same problem. She was a normal child anyway. That's what I meant, telling her when she was mature enough. Georgiana died when she was 48, so I imagine Eliza was mature enough to understand before her mother died.
No, it hink with the diffrence in hairstyle/colour and the fashion of the times, you can definatly tell the diffrence between the two. It actually took me a moment to relise "They're the same person!" But then I don't think I'm the brightest banana in the bunch :S
Now I'm convinced this never happened. We werent there anyway. I firmly believe Eliza was raised by G and Charles. I don't think G would've seen 40 if she didn't. And if Eliza was happiest, only 1 reason for that. Besides, these movies are always romanticized, like Braveheart. Wallace never shagged the Princess because she would've been 2 or 3 at the time. Eliza had to have been raised by G if she was so happy.
how could you not like this?!!? i think it's INCREDIBLE!!! I need to take you and PoeticPromises and knock both your head together lol, you have such talent and it exudes from this beautiful video, it's edited well and a freshly innovative idea that i think would do very well in xxhistorygirl23xx's contest, it was a hard relationship to make work in a video but you did and you did it flawlessly =D

Okay, thank you! Movies always tend to make people more romantic, don't they? And now I will definitely read the biography.
