I got to meet Jimmy twice before he died and got to play his guitar his grandfather made i played the battle of new orleans and he sang it it was the best thing that ever happened to me i have "ALL" of his songs plus some that he gave me ill never forget the time .
Jimmy Driftwood was a bridge between white country/folk and Rockabilly. If you really want to study music then check out Jimmy's stuff. He had a lot of Soul and he lives through his music. A massively under appreciated National Treasure. Rock on Jimmy!
OMG some PLEASE PAAAHHHHHLLLEEEAASSSEEEEE post Pretty Mary. I could listen to Jimmie sing it over and over all day long. he is a great American treasure who should have his name in the musical HOF's of any type of American music.
Jimmy put out an album titled, "A Lesson In Folk Music" which he plays the same song/s track 7, a)Cotton Eyed Joe b)Show Me Woman. I'm not familiar with his version of "Cotton Eyed Joe" and never heard of "Show Me Woman"
Thank you very much for these -alas- too short clips of a legendary musician...
as I live in Belgium (think chocolates, beer and the Battle of the Big Bulge) it is very hard to find any of his recordings, let alone some live footage ...

I'm scared he's going to bop Miss Cleda in the head with it! They were a pair like none other and are surely missed.

His playing style appears to be highly influnced by clawhammer banjo playing...anybody know if he played banjo also?
