is this reel to big and clunky? for the big fish they have in this video?..... or is it a good rod for the canal and occasional ocean fishing for sailfish? or does it go both ways and you cant go wrong? please respond i need a good spinner rod!
@snakeboy553 I don't know. I never touched one but I would buy it if I had the money. I think they come in all sizes and people describe them as the finest reels in the world
@snakeboy553 yes it would be good but if you want to get a great real for a LOT less money check out the penn battle the sizes 7000and 8000 will be able to bring in any sailfish out there and is a very smooth strong good looking and hase one of the smoothest drag systems out there but yes this is also a great real my opinion not worth the extra money over the battle:) hope this helps
@powermugu Paladin means: In the past, gear durability was sacrificed for gear smoothness, or smoothness sacrificed for durability. This is because the harder the gear material, the stronger the durability, but generally the rougher or noisier the drivetrain becomes. After testing many different materials for both the drive gear and the pinion gear, from zinc to brass, to stainless steel to different alloys of aluminum, the Paladin System means cold-forged, unbelievable molecular density.
@powermugu Simply put, Paladin Gear is what Shimano name their high end gearing system, for along time manufactures found it hard to mix durability with smoothness... Eg a VERY smooth reel would have poor gearing, where as super strong gearing that was pretty much unbreakable would feel rough... Paladin Gear is the mix Shimano has created for smoothness and durability... Hence why the Paladin gears shit all of the Saltigas
See the japanese may have reinvented jigging but there gear is not strong enough.i still use my big Alvey reel and it gets the job done for 200 plus pound tuna.
whats so funny...there great reels..i dont need to spend 750 bucks on a stella, have u ever used a 650 alvey reel? its a powerful reel. yeah i guess not. i dont think u know what your laughing at.
@ " The 2008 Shimano Stella. Sorry, in Japanese only."

depends on what your going for
I mean you wouldnt want to be using a 10 pound test trying to get cudas, but you would use it to get small calicos and their both saltwater
dudrhkd7 2 years ago 2
@nancyweeal 20,30,40,50lb braid. depends on the fish.
