Pride was done in by two things. First, they got booted off of Japanese TV when they breached their contract (big mistake, because the Japanese TV contract was the only thing keeping them afloat). Then they never responded properly to rumors they were somehow financed by the Japanese Mafia (which gave it a bad image, and image is very important in Japan).

The only thing Zuffa did, was give it a decent burial.

I got into Pride around Pride 12, and watching the Pride drama unfold, and MMA evolve was an incredible thing to be a part of. The atmosphere in Pride was totally different than the UFC. Where the UFC is about gritty violence, sports and bad nu-metal riffs, Pride celebrated the warrior spirit. Atleast that's how it felt.

Unfortunately Dream isn't the same.

I hate Dana for killing Pride. That was an ugly thing to do.

i doubt....pride became big when mma wasn't very popular in the US. pride offered higher paychecks as well so most of the great fighters flocked over to pride. now UFC has like a monopolly on great fighters. they just signed vitor belfort and akiyama and outside of like mousasi, fedor and barnett the other mma organizations are empty on great fighters.

the rules are also diff in dream and pride. soccer kicks, stomps knees to the head must be allowed in order for dream to be like pride.
