The only thing I hated about a Marty Robbins concert was hearing him sing El Paso (loved the song)....it always meant the official part of the concert was over....but he almost always stayed and goofed around with the fans...just talking and having fun...never once acting like a star.....but he was was, one that still shines. May he always be remembered.
Thanks katiedid47. I'm glad you liked what I posted of Marty's. He was an incredibly talented artist who has never received the recognition he should have in my opinion. Marty simply had it all; a beautiful voice, great songwriting talent and a charismatic stage presence.
I have just started listening to You Tube videos, but I had to sign up just to respond to your videos. I absolutely love Marty Robbins. His voice touches my emotions as no other singer. You have posted songs that I have never heard Marty sing. Thank you so very much for sharing these songs with us.
"El Paso, & White Sportscoat" are my favorites of Marty Robbins`. He may be a better singer than Joe Andrews( Playboys) , but I prefer the Bob Wills slower pace of "Deep Water." Thanks just the same--enjoyed it!
I met Marty several times sissyfuss when he came to the UK in the 70's. On the first occasions I was somewhat tongue tied, but at other times I was more relaxed and got to chat with him. He had all the time in the world for his fans and I believe that despite his star status he was just an ordinary guy (albeit blessed with an almighty talent) who remembered his roots and treated people with friendliness and respect.
every marty robbins song picks me up. even the slower ballads. it's because you can see how much he enjoy's singing and life. i would have given an awful lot to have met marty robbins.
You are also one of those who never met Marty,so am I!and from those who did meet him,you just hear what a normal person he was.A kind man who had somuch fun in performing together with his two compadres Don and Bill.I hope that Marty, his wife Marizona and Don and Bill and their loveones may rest in the heavenly peace in the arms of our God.
Rockabilly, Western Swing, Cowboy, Hawaiian, Calypso, Latin, just name I think he could do it and well at that
