@Robert1064 It reached numero 8. But a great song! I was 13 at that time. They where ahead of their time. For commercial use, it was maybe to hard still, back then. But great to hear it again. Brings back memories, great! Thanks for posting again. Funny how everybody gets angry and annoyed. Just about a song from 1985. Some people, have way to much time to loose. mjcuracao
I like Dead By April's cover because I'm mainly into that sort of music. However, I still love this version as well. I'd have rather DBA cover it than any pop artist in the so-called "charts"of today.
"seven deadly sins, seven folks to kill, seven missed like button, seven deserves suffer and ill"
I say: Just three deadly sins here - total intolerance, complete conformity and compulsive aggression. I doubt that this is what Jaz wants to bring out in people. Stop the dislike button rage!
I used to play this song all the time back in the days. 1985 doesn't seem that long ago. Timeless piece of work! Still at 43 years of age this song makes me sing my guts out
Really love the wartime/martial imagery in this video. Love songs rarely have images of Maoist struggle attached to them. Very interesting combination.
That dude with the bass is rocking out man haha. All you guys saying today's music lacks heart just haven't found the good music from today. Sybreed did a cover of this and I have to say that it's definitely up there with 80s music in terms of love put into the music. There's good music. Just gotta find it.
there was something very colplay-viva la vida about the video.. I don't think it's a coincidence. Oh well, you can't expect people not to steal from these icons! Epic song!
I bloody love this track. Reminds me of studying at University, happy, carefree days....this track was a massive favourite at the Friday night 'Alternative' disco. Just wonderful.
The good old 80's hey, actually I had a ball in the 80's big hair, lots of lipstick+mascara...that was just all how all my boyfriends looked.Strange in a way as good as Killing Joke are they were considered fairly ahead of their time ...Hmm I preferred listening to Zappa+Gong myself...still do
Members of Killing Joke can be proud of being part of such a project. Personally, I think their best songs are from the mid'80s, including this one, of course!
I'm still listening to this song after 23 years. It wasn't new in 1987 but that's the first time I saw this clip on TV and liked it. It's an unusual song and I really enjoy the rhythm and guitar parts. However, the vocals are a little weak and let the song down.
This is an all time great song. KJ influenced a lot of bands. This song reminds me of going through Europe on the Eurail (I'm American) when I was 18. And from what I've read in the comments, KJ is still touring. Holy $hite!
When you think back to what COULD have transpired in the '80s (politically, and thermo-nuclearly!), this song is a haunting echo to an era of many changes. What has not changed, though, is the pure strength of this song, with its simple, or better yet...not-so-simple structures and nuances. @cd8855 haha, you're right, but i'm to young to be nostalgic. Anyway, killing joke plays to this day and their style of music changed drasticly, but they still play from their hearts.
one of my favorite songs of the 80's. either sitting in my room with the blue christmas lights along the ceiling and incense burning, or walking the streets of chicago on a grey, drizzly day. just seeing this video for the first time now.
Good Christ, that's a killer song. Raven and Ferguson sound like they're on strafing runs. This incarnation of the Joke had to be one of tightest units of its time.
Jmeister25-"big" Paul is such an underrated drummer! I saw KJ last October and Paul killed it on this song on his Tama set like it was 1984. I was incredibly impressed. Awesome show. Fucking love Killing Joke.
Great video. RIP Paul Raven. Speaking of Raven, can anyone figure out the model bass guitar he's using in the video? The headless design leads me to believe it's a Steinberger (which was very in demand around the time of this record), but the body and color throw me off. Maybe a Hohner clone?
I know this song...very well...but from WHERE? Was it on a beaten up cassette of various tunes that a friend gave me? I've never owned a Killing Joke album...Christ it's doing my head in. ;)
I personally like the Sybreed version of the song better.

1985, what a massive releases and great music on a wide range.
Now you hear to much of the same.
Anyway, thanks for posting this.
What most have to understand that this was in 1985.
Killing Joke inspired many along the way,
A lot of great Bands like Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Nepalm Death, Metellica, SoundGarden, Foo Fighters, Rammstein, Korn and many more!!
Idols named better, where inspired by these guys.
