Ironic how he signed with the Ducks for less money than we offered. He felt that he was never really treated the same by the fans after his '98 holdout in which he almost signed a lucrative deal with Carolina that we had to match to keep him. When a superstar does that to your team, fans can grow bitter quick, and he was out by '04. I'm still grateful for everything he's done, since without him those 3 cups would not have been possible.
Your forgetting the fact that when Feds went to sign a contract with Detroit it differed from what he agreed too. It was for the better I agree, only b/c his salary would have really f'd us over when the lock out ended and the cap was installed. Im a DIE hard wings fan and Fedorov is/was my idol, but I know him leaving was for the best.
This video shows how valuable player he was on his team. His defensive skills are priceless! I think he was the best two way forward in the NHL, awesome slapshot and puckhandling skills and great play in defensive zone too.
My old favorite Red Wing.....I miss this guy a lot. I wouldn't mind having him back in Detroit.
