But the only way that it entertains is if they force us to believe that it's something more. That's what sports entertainment meant to me. Characters like Raven and Cactus who felt pain and love for others. Shawn, Hunter and 'Pac who wanted to poke fun at everything. Characters we can relate to.

Foleys promos are so good because he gets it. He gets the fact tht it's all real. I have a feeling from talking to all the 17 year olds now, that we're in for some great in ring wrestling but horrible promos with unbelievable wrestlers, over the next couple of years. Maybe for good. because its a generation of kids who grew up and think its not real. If they cant find the real in it , if they think they are "entertainers" and its not real...It's going to be pure crap. I promise you.

People always knew wrestling is not real, even if the inner workings of wrestling have been exposed more today than they were decades ago. The problem is that the quality of the product is bad.

Just because people know wrestling is fake or know the techniques wrestlers use, it does not mean they cannot enjoy wrestling. People who know how to guitar go to rock shows. People who know actors in movies don't really shoot each other still go to see action films.

You missed my point. How can you(anyone) expect to be surprised by anything when you read dirt sheets? How can you enjoy an angle now as much as you did back then...when back then you just watched and now you can read the angle before it even starts? people know what the main event of a PPV 2 & 3 months away will be. How can they expect to enjoy it as much? Also if they had the same information years ago they would have killed some of the enjoyment then as well. Thats why I NEVER read rumors :)

Also Ive watched wrestling since the 80's. I can tell you that at the current time the wrestlers are more athletic than they have ever been. A roster like the one TNA or ROH has just didn't exist before. Everyone on the roster being at that level. We get more 4* or 5* matches now than ever. People talk about the Russo Era in WWF and Bischoff Era in WCW and don't realize the draw was that they(the fans) didn't read dirt sheets then and didn't know what was going to happen, and went for the ride.

Thanks for this vid. I have heard so much about the "Cactus Interviews" and it certainly is as great as advertised. The ECW had great angles, they were not saddled with being everything to everybody like WWE. They didn't have to dumb down anything for elementary aged kids. No cartoon characters or crap like that.
