  • people passing some cheap comments on the worlds' most renowned Yoga guru, speaks of human nature..if you cannot(in most probability) attain the levels he has achieved by teaching for the last 75 years,,atleast respect the man..

  • @retipser what achievements has he achieved for human kind? has he discovered a cure for death? No! has he discovered how to bring world peace? No! you say he is healthy because of yoga and I say he is healthy because its in his genes. I know a 103 year old lady and she has been smoking cigarettes since she was 9 years old. She eats bread, meat and drinks water only and she is healthy with no medical problems. He looks like he is from India and they eat rats and worship false gods.

  • блядь я думал он споёт чего нибудь

  • I can do this as well and you should try it. He is not using his nostrils to inhale and exhale, he is using his mouth to inhale and exhale. You should all try this. I tried it and I was able to mimic him. If this is a miracle or he is a god then what am I? since I can do the same.

  • @davidwestco Everyone is a God :)

  • @davidwestco He's using his nostrils.

  • @davidwestco Idiot,,do you even know who this person is actually..read ,understand and then comment...Your westerworld should be grateful for a man of his stature..at the age of 95 still being healthy..You were not even born when first exhaled...idiot

  • @retipser HE IS A FRAUD!!!! show me a link where he is being observed by Scientific Doctors then I will be a believer.

  • perfect hood sound :-)

  • Just witnessed a miracle....

  • Learn more at pervertyoga.

  • can someone tell me what is saying asfter the point that say "the breath is the king of the mind" ...after it says the "rythmic vibration at the nerves" becomes the king of the breath???? is that correct ???

  • The man is 92 now and can inhale about 47 to 50 secs shows his stamina and mastery over his breathe (pranayama) . He is just great and rightly awarded and honored by many countries in the world. If you want to know just type BKS Iyengar in wikipedia.

  • it's just fa full ego master

  • @redtommy83 It's amazing how incredibly accurate and full of truth your statement is - the beauty, meaning and positivity, as well as respect within your short and well thought sentence will make the world a better place. Thank you for sharing your profound insight with the community.

  • Holy god..... 47 seconds inhalation....?????

  • frikaloopa HE inhales and exhales for THAT long ???

  • Is this what Anna Nalicks song "Just Breathe" is REALLY about....it would be kick a if there was an x-ray machine situated right in front of those super lungs!

  • Guys, this is just 2011, science has not come to an end. When it evolves beyond its self-imposed walls, then everything told by yogic masters will come thru. We still have to 100's of years to go. IF anything is beneficial, take it. Why color yourself and look at others as if they are truly aliens. There are no aliens in this world. This is just one family. Most peoples' minds are highly prejudiced in the name of culture. Go back a few thousands years back, your very ancestors might be an 'alien

  • @vjaywin truer words have never been spoken

  • @vjaywin ejaculation causes men to think in scientific manners instead of spiritual manner.

  • Brilliant person! Respect.

  • Just for fun!Ok! Do one of this exale and inhale like that i quit writing! Do, and put on yout tube. This is just a master know to do it! This is a super human! Not super like superman that bushit! Is a super human being!

  • Was he the warmup act for the Village People? Look at me ... I'm breathing! It takes some balls to get up on stage in rainbow hotpants and do what he's doing. My hat is off to this crazy.

  • A vacuum fu$%@ng cleaner with double jet!

  • FAKE !!!

  • Why would I want to breath like that? It sounds like submarine crash underwater.

The Candidates for X Factor must of been very poor that year ..

  • @AudaxRider hahaha - my friend he is now 91, still in that shape!

  • @AudaxRider you are such an igonrant guy dude

  • @indianajones20009The correct spelling is "ignorant"

Why do say this anyway? Do you think this man can change peoples lives just because he can breath up against a microphone. Thus making his breathing sound more intense ?

  • @AudaxRider heres an exercise for you... do pranayama for a week every morning and every evening and we talk, ok?

  • @indianajones20009 "guy dude"

  • i am so sorry for those who practice asana and not rest of the limps.

also sorry for those who studied about it and not following it..

  • Comment removed

  • i know hes a great yogi, but he faked the breathing...when he stopped to exhale in the end, the sound kept persisting even after he stepped behind the mic

  • @satchi123 I am a singer and have experienced that there is a relay delay in time from sound leaving mouth audio hitting mike sound waves moving through wires to speakers and out to the audience.

  • @satchi123 lol, no it didn't, maybe when you watched it, it was out of sync but it stops right when he does, not to mention you can take a step back and still be breathing out especially when you have such little breath left you're well aware of running out it.

  • aHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • Yoga is not show biz!

  • @marcobaldus What is showbiz about that? low budget home video of a demonstration by a master? you should be honored that its available for free on this site.

Yoga is big business in America it is become peverted by the almighty dollar.

  • @marcobaldus What is showbiz about that? low budget home video of a demonstration by a master? you should be honored that its available for free on this site.

  • @allenja420 AMEN!!! A living GOD, Namaste

  • @marcobaldus You are correct, B.K.S. Iyengar yoga is not showbiz:), it's the real deal. He brings yoga out of darkness.

  • aum breath

  • fantastic.. this itself is very difficult... imagine how diff it is for other exercises...

  • "The Mind Is the King of the Senses>The breath is the King of the Mind .

Rythmic Vibation of the nerves> Becomes the Kind Of Breath .

sound of breath beatifull vibration .

    Inhalation

  • pranayama is a real big mystery and all those who practice it present common results just like swami vivekananda said in his book "raja yoga".

so there is something that science has not yet got the answer for...

  • "The Mind is the King of the Senses

The Breath is the King of the Mind."BK

    nameste om

  • That was hilarious, but in a non disrespectful good way. When he excaled longer than twenty seconds I just had to laugh.

  • the guy is in his 80's is is the father of modern yoga. I know very few people his age in as great of shape as he is.

  • @DJCritterH

He's actually 91 now, and is in great health

  • Damn, he was about 80 when this was recorded?

I'm 39yo now and by the way my body changed over the last ten years, my torso will look like his when I'll be 50.

I learned some yoga when I was in university...I'd better start doing my exercises again soon...

  • whats he wearing?

  • That are Sponge Bob shorts.

  • Wisdom. Peace. Hope for injured and sick bodies. Patience for people who don't understand the beauty of Yoga. I use his style for my patients and Ia m glad I have more than Old School traditional Allopathic medicine for my patients. Bless this guy and what he has acomplished :)

  • @Elfboob Chakra shorts.

  • @Elfboob pretty sure they're ninja turtle boxers

  • @Elfboob haha you made my day Elfie :-D......I'm a yoga-dude though and loooove this vid at the same time...

  • @Elfboob He is wearing Mer-ka-bah field.

  • @sopin3xx That looks like a stupid pair of shorts...

  • @Elfboob why are you so conscious about it.....

  • I read 1955: For thousands of year the interest of yoga is known to be periodic with century long intervals. The interest is at the bottom a very long time, until somebody is born who knows the secret of authentic yoga. When the interest increases a lot of charlatans jump in and teach their own versions of yoga, but their pupils never get the real inner results of authentic yoga and people lose their interest of yoga, which declines and sleep for a long, long time. So the cycles go on and on.

  • @Brainfulness very well said !

    This guy's a wanker ...

  • @kundaliniairport I am pretty sure this is the guy that was born that knows the secret of authentic yoga. And I'm pretty sure you are the student of a charlatan or a charlatan yourself.

  • @hoofrise indeed i'm the student of a charlatan, like everybody nowadays, there's no authentic yoga anymore, like this dude, just teaching gymnastics to the masses, authentic yoga transforms your emotions, mentality & psychology, i've seen in the iyengar environment only inflated egos, and why? because they have flexible spines now..so, i'm pretty sure that guy's a wanker which makes you the student of a wanker AND a wanker yourself.

  • @kundaliniairport I like to wank to this vid.

  • @hoofrise

  • @hoofrise right, i am the student of a charlatan, like everybody nowadays, there's no autentic yoga anymore, this dude just makes big business teaching his own version (actually passesd on by krishnamacharya) of gymnastics to the mases..

so, i'm prety sure you are the student of a wanker AND a wanker yourself..

  • @kundaliniairport Well, maybe one day you will find a man that gives you your spirituality. Have you tried traveling to see the Wizzard of Oz. Maybe he will have a soul for you. I personally have only found the answers within. No one else has given us these "correct" "gymnastic" instructions. "Correct" instruction of the physical poses is the only thing lost when transmitting yoga to the masses and Iyengar brought "correct" back. No pun intended.

  • @kundaliniairport If one is looking for correct asana then they are not being taught by a charlatan. What exactly are you referring to as authentic? Breathing is advanced and is great too. It's like gymnastics that prepares you for breathing so why is that bad?

  • Let's not mix asanas with Yoga people. Calling the Asanas Yoga just shows the lack of knowledge. Asanas are only one of the limbs of yoga... Anyone who tries to do wellness by practicing any of the limbs of Yoga is practicing great Karma Yoga. Let's not forget that. Even the one who teaches at a gym..

  • a ja mr iyengar first time i see him

  • So... Dude can breath, means he`s not dead, big deal...

  • i also hold him and Mr pattabhi jois, (ashanga yoga fame ), responsible for misleading the western yogis/seekers and letting them believe that these asanas are the real yoga. There is a saying in India, that "'when blind leads the blinds, all of them end up in ä ditch''. This what has happened with this ""yoga cult". This physical yoga is the least/ most non essential part f the real yoga. But bcoz its a booming business, every one keeps quite and milks the ''yoga cow''

  • Right on.

I won't bother writing the same thing as you have said it all (and I have been twice to his institute in Pune so I know a bit what I am talking about for those who don't like what we are writing.

  • your comment gives me relief that there are a few out there, who understand and confirm to what i have said. Otherwise i feel alone sometimes times in this lost crowd. ( and start doubting myself if I am the wrong one )

  • So why is it that you have a Swenson Ashtanga video on your channel ?

That seems odd compared with your statements.

  • my Channel ????? I m sorry I am an indian guy, and really not tech savvy at all. Yes, i keep watching yoga (postures) DVD clips from you tube. But I am not aware that i have a channel or something like that. , and Mr swenson is there somewhere in my channel.

  • Hey I am a Kiwi guy and am probably no more tech savvy than you ! And anyway, you have access to a computer so that's something.

Click on your profile name right here in this thread and you will get to see your "channel"

  • Yeah see kiwis are great they help people

  • what do you think of Bikram..he teaches that Hatha yoga is preparation for meditation and in beginning series savasana posture for meditation is done in between hatha yoga

  • Interesting question.

I think all these guys started out with a sort of purity of intent but then discovered the US Dollars.

I first met Bikram when he was teaching classes in japan, way way before he was "Bikram" so to speak.

What they "teach" and what they teach are two different things, they are entrepreneurs, they have made fortunes and that is their real truth.

I have no problem with that but call it what it is I say. Bikram Yoga, like Iyengar Yoga is extremely popular, that's great.

  • @cspace1234nz Everything is corrupted by the dollar, except a small % of each of those things. I am pretty sure Iyengar is of the small % that remains uncorrupted. It seems visually obvious to me. Iyengar doesn't seem to be a an entrepreneur either. Really, he seems to be the only yogi worth listening to.

  • @hoofrise You're talking through a very small and inexperienced hole in your head.

Perhaps you should go to the institute in Pune and see for yourself what this man is about. He's OK, I mean, he's not an evil man but he is certainly not what people have made him out to be and take it from he, he is the consummate entrepreneur.

These people start out with a purity of intent but eventually after discovering the mighty US dollar they are all yesterdays lunch.

  • @cspace1234nz Bikram is not even comparable to Iyengar. Iyengar's spiritual path is his own problem. And unless you are his accountant I wouldn't comment. Iyengar brings the only correct form of asana. That's all that matters. You prefer incorrect asana to the masses?

  • @cspace1234nz I notice a lot of people around Iyengar focus on kissing his ass when they should be listening to instruction.

  • @dkosho8 You are thinking of B.S., not B.K.S., the asanas are the essence of real yoga. Opening channels through biological perfection will allow more light to enter your body.

  • @dkosho8 The western world is addicted to drugs as a whole. If they found the structure of the true physical asanas, they could relieve physical & mental pain(emotions that leave the body when practicing), so they could meditate. The physical asanas give us the strength to focus. Focus and clear morals will help us find the spiritual side of yoga. How can you change the world for the better if you just sit on your ass?

  • @dkosho8 The western world needs to learn to control their body before they can master their mind's. We've had enough dramatic poetry I think.

  • @dkosho8 To help the western world, it is going to take an extreme amount of manual labor, meaning most of our citizens. How will we be sound if our bodies are constantly falling apart? Do people meditate well when they are constantly reaching for a substance?

  • With due respect to Mr Iyengar's contribution towards "'Yoga as Excercise''., and to the ''respect'' of other ''yogis'' for him, I would say that he always suffered from a deep inferiority complex, and used yogasana as a tool to overcome it. But, alas, he failed and is still as sick as he has always been. He is not more than a yoga gymnast, who works for clapping and applause, and loves certificates and medals etc etc. I pray to god that he gets some awareness before its too late....

  • I really love ya ayengar but I gotta tell ya, the "breathing" sounds more like a vacuum hooked to another mic offstage. After all, your chest barely moves the entire time. I also have a barrel chest so I should know; when we breathe it shows!

  • Wow BKS, you are amazing, I wish I was there to give applause to your marvelous inhalation.

You must truly be enlightened !

  • The first masters of time & space were those of ancient Korean people in what is now northeast China. This happened long before Bodhidharma, The Emperor's Yellow Classic, or even the Vedas. Imperialist China rewrote Korean history in order to subjugate Korean influence in the then Chinese hierarchy.

While the Indian culture has certainly influenced China, "Chi" had already been derived from the Korean word "Ki (Key) long before Indian people set foot in China.

  • Holy Smoely how do you know all that? Did you exist back then? Get rid of an absolute belief in history or world view. Things are usually not adherent to fixed beliefs or perceptions. The reality is usually varied and different.

  • @TransPersonal123 You are entitled to believe what you choose, and I wouldn't think of stopping you.

  • @noclouds111 Really! So what is your explaination for the fact that it was a chinese minister whom was fleeing form one of the emperors and found himself in Korea where he established the Korean kingdom?

  • @jirildo Even if this was true, it has nothing to do with my post. Do you know why?

  • @noclouds111 first. Does it really matter? No. Chi, Ki could be called whatever you like and could have been discovered in whatever place you prefer. Its the realization of Prana (indian for Chi og Ki) in the individual and the exploration of Pranas potential and meaning that matters.

    2. I dont believe you, until I see some proofs somewhere, that you talk truth.

  • @WaterPocket My comment has context and is a response to a comment which is incorrect. You'll find the other comment on another page.

You've already stated "does it really matter?". Why would I then proceed?

  • @WaterPocket Always looking for proofs! Proofs what? Scientific? Science does not answer when the universe form nor what is universe. What proofs you want? Why you are here? Prana is not a steak of meat to be proof! Prana is about aether! Ki, Chi and Kundalini is a energy that exist inside your body, no matter you believe or not. The proof about Chi or Ki, is very simple: when a kungfu man broken a piece of wood with one finger! Ok, do one exercise Ivengar do just one you will see what is Chi!

  • @rogodoy12 ... I dont know why you go on about the concepts of Prana, when the fight is over you postulations of where and when the concept of it originated? All I need and ask for is some solid proofs of that part of your postings. Compared to how it contradicts normal historic knowledge, it is just fair to ask for. Otherwise it must be categorised as rumours, bedtime-stories or just pure fantsy.

  • @WaterPocket Solid proofs is stupidity, because science never know the truth abotu nothing. I sayed that Chi and Ki is all ready prooved by all martial arts. Prana is aether if not you die, how can i prooved something you would never understand! If I have solid proofs to you believe. Prana is a matter of awareness, not logic. The proof is simple: do one execise just one! This is the proof their body is stronger than yours. This is the proof!

  • I do not want keep traying because it is a matter of awareness just stop, i know is for me is important not. I am not iluminatti! Proofs is for then and the fucking science and your stupid reality!

  • @rogodoy12 not to offend you, but I am sure Iyengar knows that Chi, Ki and Prana are different names for a common concept. But do you? Ok I'm off..:-)

  • Siiiiick!

  • iam thoroughly impressed

  • this is amazing...

really unbelievable! i hope to get to that point once in my life!

  • That amazing that the same sound i hear when i'm practicing pranayama he is right that sound is so relaxing, blissful, and inner peace. Does anyone know the meaning of this phenomenon of hearing the white noise sound inside the brain is coming from the mind.

  • That sound is the Pranava, or Anahat naada, the eternal sound. ignore the rasping of the air as it passes thorugh the passages, and focus on the humming sound, that is the pranava or omkaara or nadabrahma sound. This person is an adept, amazing, I have met him.

  • He sounds he makes are so metallic that he may be a human robot... LOL

  • LOL nice turbine's xD

  • he forgot his clothes ?

  • He's going to the swimming pool later on. ;D

  • who wanna see true wath Excellent Pranayama Explanation from Himalayan Yoga Swami,-

my heard send me beatiful feeling wathing swami.....i feel calm and wisdom

wathing lyengar i feel pain in back in lombar spine and emptines

  • Goodness me! Why so , much negativity from a video of pranayama? Some people really do need to breathe more and get some circulation to the brain!!

  • lol!

  • @plonkies Would at least explain why you hate India?

  • stay off the drugs kids

  • I recommend everyone to buy "the little book of yoga breathing" by scott shaw

its the best book ever! its short and to the point. It contains many PRANAYAMIC breathing exercise techniques. If you don't buy it, you miss everything.

  • @satchitananda24 dont pay for yoga. Thats my advice.

  • Great video, more or less useless comments, except a few. Iyengar states that (in accordance to Patanjali) the breath has power over the mind.

You can believe this or not - you'll never find out until you try it out. If you find it is not true, so be it. But since hundreds of years this has been found to be the truth, not only for Yogis, but also for others like Stan Grof, Reich or Osho. And modern science shows that vitaly is increased, the nervous system relaxes and immune system is stronger.

  • What this man did not tell you and what Patanjali meant by breath was WILL. Not the actual inspirational or expirational breathing. The true rendering is that the WILL has power over the mind.

  • Nice comment. That's also what Yesudian kept saying.

  • haha...cool video of Iyengar. Freaky comments lol :-P

There should be public sponsored chatrooms for letting out steam. That would clea a lot of nonsense from cool sites...

  • Ahahaha... Awesome. Iyengar is the most inspirational yogi I have ever heard of and read from. <3 Iyengar. You are completely right about the public sponsored chat rooms for "fightin' it out" : )

  • What the fuck is wrong with all of you??? Take just one breathe, and shut the fuck up.

  • your brain looks to me like a pisa shit

  • FYA iam an openmined person as you say . not a narrow minded A--H LIKE YOU, how many countries you have visited , ithink its waste of time you dick head, you still got to learn a lot, go read the bible , the world is small, every day you learn something , correct your self during this lent period atleast, i hope you have job still

  • Wow!

  • Peace & Blessings...

    BR/The Ghost of Elvis Project

    CANADA

  • this is like th emost serious and hilarious thing on youtube. 6 stars

  • Iyengar the enigma !

On one hand he has spent many years thinking seriously about and practicing the science of yoga, on the other hand must take huge responsibility for the bastardisation of yoga.

Twice I attended his institute in Pune. The first time I saw him in 1999 he was on his cellphone arguing about a book deal. The second time, 3 years later, he cradling huge wads of rupees.

At the beginning there was a purity of intent but he sold out as they do and as this video also demonstrates.

  • @cspace1234nz Who cares, he brought us real asanas when others failed to do so. The only asanas that don't generally cause injury. The spiritual path comes from within, not a guru. Iyengar did and does a great job bringing the people what they need. Do you actually look to another person to find your own spirituality?

  • @cspace1234nz Spirituality can't generally be taught. However, proper maintenance of your temple can. I personally thank God for sending a man capable of cleaning up these bastardized forms of asana.

  • @cspace1234nz yeah, no man is perfection. Just filter out the good stuff and use that. Youll be alright...

  • BKS Iyengar is the greatest and most well known yogi in the world today. Thanks to him and his development of yoga for the modern and western world (respectively) everyone can become a yogi with its powerful restorative and healing benefits. Breathing is one of the most (if not, the most) key structure to the practice and adherence to yoga. I like this video because it comes directly from him, a name I have come to respect over the years of practicing yoga. This is a wonderful opportunity!

  • 1st: I have to say some of the comments are realy funny. The comments try to express the negative opinions about this breathing presentation but get so personal and extreme that they get to be funny. I had a good laugh at least, especially at the older comments. :))

2nd: Even though I am not sure how prominent this yogi master is, he tries to demonstrate something special and takes great pride by doing it which is great.

  • OK!! That was awesome!!

Now let's experience the rhythm of the sound of flatulence.
