  • She's going to be my future wife.

  • That music sounds so familiar!! Is it from Kingdom Hearts?? :D

  • ehhh do you TRY to look asian or is that just how you look cos you look asian.

  • I also started learning Japanese when I was 12. I'm almost 19 now and I can confidently say that your Japanese is WAY better than mine lol. Its kinda sad but I blame myself for not taking it seriously enough.さあ、頑張るぞ~!

  • hey i love british slangs teach me some :D

  • Hahaha i brought mine - my japanese coach - on amazon a year ago for £9.99 just a minute ago i looked to see how much they would go for .... turns out a lot.....

  • If you cannot find My Japanese coach, you can always get a R4 or some kind of memory card DS game/tape and download the ROM. My brother uses it all the time ^^

  • You really like japan.

I study English hard like you .

I want to know a lot of British slangs.

    I enjoy your videos.

  • Hana Kimi !!!! I love it *____* <3

But Isn´t a book good to start learning japanese, to learn a bit about the grammar and vocabulary and so on.. I wanne learn iit D:

  • im learning korean too nd i honestly think korean is alot easier than japanesse its probably just me but still it seems alot easier

  • So informational. Thank you! ~

  • kill it with fire!! lol

  • Kanji.koohii.com

Remember the Kanji by James Heisig

Takes two-three months and you learn 2042 Kanji. Can move on to RTK3 and then your up to 3007 in 3-4 months.

  • omg description: that's what he said.

  • will you list all of these books please?

  • I liked how you were giving the spider the death stare. :P I feel the same way about cockroaches.

  • Wow! Finally found a young British person who likes Japanese and Korean stuff! I am not alone! :D

I am loving your videos! Subscribed! :D :D

  • I got that Berlitz Japanese book, and was a bit upset when I realised it was all in Romaji. :(

  • 2:37 your point about internet is great. I tweet with other Japanese people or leave Japanese comments on YouTube, very helpful, forces me to read more kanji. Also, I don't know if you know who Danny Choo is? I stole a little tip from him and started making kanji charts on paper I could stuff in my pockets, helps me learn more when waiting for class to start and so on. Also, any advice on a good Japanese dictionary? For Kanji, 'a Guide to remembering Japanese characters" is a must!!!!

  • knowing your age have you been getting your parents to buy/pay for all your Japanese media needs? It's cool to hear parents supporting it all!

  • Can u tell e what websites helps u a lot too :)

  • You can get 'My Japanese Coach' on the Apple App Store. I've had it on my iPhone since I first got one in 2009.

  • Spider wwwwwww

  • well actually they are still selling the my japanese coach game. I see it where ever I go in the electronics section at local stores.

Like wal-mart, target, kmart, and at toys r us

  • SPIDER ATTACK! i think i would have passed out lol.

  • ahahhaha fail i have japanese coach. i brought mine from amazon. AND IM LOVING THE KINGDOM HEARTS MUSIC!!

  • We are totally the same! I live off my Bertlitz Dictionary, Japanese Magazines and Doramas xD

  • BERLITZ DICTIONARY FTW!!! Mine is falling to PIECES!! xD

  • I find it annoying when the books are in romaji. I had one dictionary and one book (that you've mentioned) that are in romaji and one dictionary that uses Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji and I much prefer it when they use the actual language ^_^

  • a good this is also to put everyday sites you use in japanese! i have my facebook and youtube email everything in japanese its been months and i am still learning new words its pretty cool

  • buy your magazines from fullmoon07xxx . ocnk . net its much cheaper and gets sent straight from japan :D

  • The Japanese from Zero books go along with the website YesJapan. But you have to pay :(

  • I hate spiders too. I used to not mind them until one day I was in the garden and I put my hand when I was picking inches away from a wolf spider.....It was pretty tramatizing because of the size and although it did nit bite me, I learned later its bite generally doesn't cause death, just swelling. Still, because of that one experience, I no longer trap them in a jar, I usually kill them immediately. :(

  • very good video! can't believe you have so many books!

  • Thank you so much for this video!! I'm sure you're a biiig help to your viewers~ ♥

  • Kingdom hearts music! :D

  • Damn eeet I've been looking for that DS game.. >'': Oh well..

  • I bought that first phrasebook too when I started.. .D: it's funny <:

  • Where did you find 'making out in Japanese/Korean?

  • Where did u get the Hana Kimi book?

  • i think "kanji starter" is a realy realy good book, its like the book that explains how kanji became to what they are now, but simpler, just

    0 -> o -> O

stupid axample but i think you get it, there are 2 books, kinda cheap, overall both of them teaches 1000 words and how to write them, it teaches kanji combanations etc

i find it to be exteremly good, check it out if you ever get the chance

    *sorry about spelling mistakes

  • How do u study the kanji? Like remember it? Im finding it so hard :(

  • As an aside, which books did you use to learn Kana?

  • Wow wish I can say the game "My Japanese Coach " is way too basic for me...I'm still trying to work on that game :/

  • Same here, the cds are annoying. I never use it.

    Nice review! :)

  • wow you are so cool!!! only 3 years?!?!?! you must be really passionate about learning japanese... I think i would've given up if i didnt learn in school xD props to u!

  • Your future husband is Korean isn't he? ; )

  • Cute outfit you were wearing!

  • lol i watched this for 10 seconds and went o yea thats just my music from . . .wait a second *pauses video and music stops* =^.^=

  • "Thats what she said!" I love girls that use that phrase. Marry me?

  • Comment removed

  • SPIDER! KILL IT! KILL IT WITH FIRE!

In clas, we learn with the Minna no Nihongo book series. It's quite good, don't know how good it is compared to the books you mentioned. There are two versions. One, completely in romaji and one completely in kana, with hiragana above the kanji.

I'll make a video later today about how I learned Japanese.

  • i recommend Genki I & II (those give a really good base and cover all elementary grammar/vocab/kanji), followed by New Approach (intermediate). i also like the exam prep books 日本語総まとめ which are arranged by JLPT level and come in sets of vocab/grammar/kanji.

it's great to learn from media too, of course ^-^!

  • You may want to get Basic Kanji book vol. 2 and Intermediate Kanji Book. There is some English in them, but most of it is in Japanese. There are all kinds of kanji exercises, example sentences, synonyms and antonyms, etc. I think both of them will have plenty of new vocab for you.

Great job on the review. Too bad you spent money on those CD and book sets, since you don`t like them. They looked kind of pricey.

  • りゅざきさん、オススメのドラマとアニメは?

  • I'm so glad I'm not the only one who reacts like that at spiders xD

  • lol i was thinking the whole time while watching this and listening to the music...."why do i feel like i should be at the train station".....lol good old kingdom hearts

  • Thanks for the recommendations! It did take me ages to figure out that I can learn Japanese in fun ways rather than constantly studying through books, but right now I'm broke so the only books I can practice my reading with are manga from the library -_-

  • Thank you so Much! This helped me a lot! :D

  • Apart from Berlitz, I haven't heard of any of those books xD

It's good that you're setting aside time to focus on Kanji. Far too many foreigners can't write Kanji well, mainly because they don't have a goal like the 漢字検定. People don't realise how fundamental the study of Kanji and Keigo are to surviving in Japanese society.

What's your JLPT level at, out of curiosity? ^^

Spiders freak me out as well, almost as much as cockroaches x.x

  • im using japanesepod101. Online lessons awesome.

  • I hate spiders, too. -.-

  • Cool. :) How's your Korean studying going? LOL... I woke up this morning to a spider right in my face on the wall. Urghhh. T__T

  • love the making out series! c: was very useful when I was learning korean ^^

  • and i have my japanese coach! i LOVE that game! lol

  • Kingdom Hearts music =DD

  • kingdom hearts!!!! oh those lazy afternoons.. ;

  • jaejoong!!! hehehe

  • I thought I was going insane for a while cause I kept hearing twilight town theme, but I wasn't.

  • 8:49 <3<3:)

  • great video...I recommend Remembering the Kanji for writing but it won't let you know how to read them only the English meaning and how to write it. I use it off and on. It's pretty helpful cuz I can kinda guess the stroke order to a lot of kanji. anyway good luck with Korean. I plan to study it too once I start speaking more in japanese. じゃ、tata! ^_^

  • LMAO!@: "And it turned into this, AND THEN THIS! :O"

I gotta buy those Japanese From Zero books.

Didn't George from YesJapan make them or something?

    He's hilarious!

  • Yaaaaaaah~

    I love your videos.

    I LOVE THE LENGTH<3 :)

  • after you made your first video with my japanese coach i heard about it but didn't trust those language games. once you said it was great though i couldn't find it anywhere. x.x it took me almost two months to track it down, but i've got it ^o^

  • @missy192 I need to learn not to comment before the video is over... I have a great japanese area near me so i bought a couple of childrens books to help me with kana before i move onto kanji. they have a music section but i'm not very familiar with the japanese music, i've been paying too much attention to Korean music/dramas more than japanese ;D anyway, any japanese groups you suggest? i like most genres.

  • Loved this video , it was really intresting.... Lol spider

  • I run "my japanese coach" using an R4 card, cos i couldn't find it anywhere.

  • the spider just wanted to learn japanese and get in on the trends XD

  • i have your Berlitz dictionary =p. I can say its really amazing like what you said. I wish i have the time. I am busy with other studies and commitment....... =(

  • Assimil, Teach Yourself and Pimsleur #FTW :D

  • I just saw "My Japanese Coach" being sold online. I think there are stores here that sell it too.

  • Thank you for the video! Gosh! My bookstore doesn't have a good selection at all. :/

  • spider scare the crap out of you hahahah XD

  • OH MY GOD! That book you had where is tells the original images to kanji I had a book just like it when I was 12 but then I had to take it back to the library cause I was grounded from the library and it was such a bummer! I couldn't even think of what it was called. But from seeing this, now I know what to look for. Thank you so much! <3 <3 <3

  • Rosetta stone ftw

  • This video helped a lot. Omg, you have the same reaction as me. But I always end up crying. But I'm going to buy the Berlitz dictionary. ありがと ございます!:D

  • to be honest you look really pretty on that outfit =]

  • say NO to ROMAJI!!!!!!!!!!!

  • HANA KIMI. that is my fav manga! i wanted to watch the drama but i cant find a site with good quality! :)

  • what about a book for the basic's of kanji? like to start-off. I know in the vid there is the book about where they came from. but how did you start off with kanji, and is there kanji in "my japanese coach" ?

  • I like spiders. I pick them up and throw them at my housemates and they scream like little girls.

Thanks for the book recommendations. I might have a look at the Japanese from zero.

Since you can reach a bigger audience than I can, can you let people know that there's a free Kanji learning app for Android phones called 'Kanji Flashcards' that's quite effective?

I read your Korean book as Complete Koran and I was like what the hell

  • Thanks for this video, and your hair is soo pretty *_*

  • KINGDOM HEARTS MUSIC!!! Sorry, had a moment. Amazing video. You gave me some good recommendations and it helps a lot. ... I hate spiders too..... *shudders*

  • You are so god damn cute Grace.

  • Yup.... it was good. :P BTW, did you change your hair color?

  • Thanks for the advice :3 ''My Japanese Coach'' is still being sold because l bought it after watching your other video ^__^ Kingdom Hearts! <33

  • heeeeeey this is twilight town music, right?

  • u have so many books of japanese ;o

    and your necklace is interesting

  • When I started out, I thought I had to do books, too. But the best thing to do is learn from Japanese media made by Japanese for other Japanese. It's more fun, and it's not gonna make you sound like a robot.
