@deadstrider That's not the reason... If you've been keeping up with what's been going on in the Marvel Universe as of late Eddie Brock is no longer Venom, Flash Thompson is. Venom went from an A-lister to like a D-list villain or rather anti-hero within recent years. So really Marvel's to blame for this one for wanting to keep the Marvel roster "current."
@DemonicRemption i dont care, i read the comics when i was a kid and watched the 90's animated series. to me venom was kick ass monstrous and he still is
@deadstrider This comment alone makes me want to take a greyhound to Newyork, break down the doors to Marvel Headquarters and do Venom some justice. Seriously, I don't think there should be a reason for him to be a current D-lister, and I'm kind've tired of hearing about misinterpretations of Marvel and DC characters...
You know what would be cool if they indeed added New Venom (Flash Thompson) and give him his Deadpool/ Chris firearm combat style. For a level 3 Hyper combo you can have him go beserk into his symbiotic state where he retains all of his original playstyle and dub it "WE ARE VENOM!!" Give him Anti-Venom and Carnage alts and i'll buy it.
@cybrog9 You mean to tell me that Flash Thompson in your opinion is a good Venom? Interesting... That would be neat though, but as you are aware many people prefer the original Venom. I blame the writers on that one though. From where I sit Venom wouldn't've declined as a villain if they understood what the Eddy Brock Venom was, and varied that depending on the nature of each host who succeeded Brock...
@DemonicRemption I agree No one can replace Eddie Brock, but it's a marketing ploy Marvel can use to re-introduce Venom into UMVC3 since the vanilla roster mostly had the popular nostalgic MSH characters but they leaned more on the more current; yet previously third rate characters who are growing in popularity. I mean when they did the Jill DLC release they completely nerfed the MVC2 playstyle in return for RE5 playability. Either that or Anti-Venom with a Venom alt skin would suffice.
@cybrog9 I'm not saying no one can replace Eddie Brock, I'm saying that his successors had and have the potential to be just as good if comic-book writers understood the original Venom. As for the growing use of third rate characters? This is a blessing to me, because I'd look at the more obscure characters in Marvel and DC and would get annoyed at how little they're utilized in comic-book storylines. So for them to get any notoriety makes me happy.
Besides the people you consider who are wanting Venom are the same people who are twiddling their Thumbs for X, Gambit, and god knows Ken... I really would like to see my favorite anti-hero return in the similar condition he was left in, but something's gotta give. But the writing staff for MVC3 has it's fail moments considering that Spider-man is technically of genius level intellect yet they placed him as "above average".
@cybrog9 While I do agree with lack of understanding in character abilities by MVC writing staff, I was referring to how Comic-book writers misinterpret characters like when Spiderman is a whiney brat, or what they're doing in DC with making Superman dark. It irritates me as writer, because makes me want to slap the writers, push them aside and show them how to write a good story with good characters.
Come to think of it, why does it seem like all the bad comics get the most attention, because I have read some good stories from Marvel and DC, and they seem to be underplayed.
I wouldn't necessarily call them "Bad" since their series has definitely shown some level of popularity in the recent years, while others were greatly underplayed for quite a long time because they don't sell their labels as much as Spider-Man or X-Men. I mean for the most part if people want the roster to stay the same as MVC2 then they should most likely stick to that game. But seeing Venom again would do this game some justice.
I really wish Nemesis was in MvC3 as the Monster character, but he was too "Violently Grotesque" According to Capcom, and even then couldnt he be a DLC? Apparently not.
wow! more like a boss battle theme(evil) but he's in the good side only twisted...

Venom won't be in MvC3 - the first DLC is Ken Masters and Anti-Venom - the Symbiote will not be in it.
