I'm taking AP European History and we just finished the Age of Exploration. Something my teacher said (so very many times) a way to remember Europe's motivations for expanding to America was by remembering the 3 G's- Gold, Glory, and God.
So now, working on Euro homework I listen to this song and I only just now hear the lyrics "...we sailed the open sea for Glory, God, and Gold, the Virginia Company" I perk up. I wonder if this is where my teacher got it from...
@BlackPhoenix00280 Pocahontas got it from your History Teacher... I am a history teacher, all history teachers have been taught to teach the "3 G's" since time immemorial.
@Themothia2 Rarely. Wikipedia requires an account these days which deters a lot of jokers from editing it. Otherwise, all articles must be source anything not cited will be deleted within a day or two. Also, anybody can report incorrect facts. Overall, while I wouldn't use it for an academic paper, wikipedia is very informative and a good starting point. Have you used it yourself? Or are you just going by what pompous academic professors have told you?
@AssualtgruppeVeir Actually yeah it was. The Virginia company was made up of two divisions: The London company and the Plymouth company. The London company settled Jamestown and the Plymouth company settled..well thats pretty obvious lol.
@AssualtgruppeVeir Actiually yeah. Im studying American history in college right now and there were two subdivisions of the Virginia Company. The first one known as the London Company settled in Jamestown while the Plymouth Company settled in what would be known as Plymouth Rock.
what i love about this movie is that the settler john smith has an american accent...despite the fact that the land hes founding is america o_0 mind fuck. oh and also hes played by a massive racist :D
AVATAR is clearly a rip-off of POCAHONTAS. If pocahontas has POCAHONTAS, then avatar has NEYTIRI. If pocahontas has JOHN SMITH, then avatar has JAKE SULLY. If pocahontas has AMERICA, then avatar has PANDORRA. If pocahontas has GRANDMOTHER WILLOW, then avatar has THE TREE OF SOULS. If pocahontas has GOVERNOR RATCLIFFE, then avatar has COLONEL QUARITCH. If pocahontas has CHIEF POWHATAN, then avatar has EYTUCAN. If pocahontas has INDIANS, then avatar has NA'VIS.
This song helped me to pass a serious history test recently. We had to know what year the Virginia Company set sail, their main reasons for doing so (the three G's), and so on. Who says TV can't be educational?
I salute in the bath to this song. Because I am a real man, oh yes.

@AssualtgruppeVeir Right because Wikipedia is never wrong, and all the facts found there are 100% correct.

@Themothia2 Actually, he is right. One governed over the south including what is now called Virginia and another had control of New England.

Very cool song. This song sounds like a song I have already. Still, it plays differently. My custom song is from one of my future projects.

@Themothia2 Can't. Movie is not made yet and I do not own lyrics yet. I have it stuck in head. Story is called SUDDEN THRILL.
Screw the system, long live freedom. That is part of the song that sounds like this one.
