I think a lot of people forget that reba sang this shortly after her band died in the plane crash. It took a lot of courage to sing this. Reba - you did a great job.
It sounds too rushed , When Meryl sings it , you can feel what she is saying. Reba sounds great, but it is routine. I like Ms Streep's performance much more
Reba did SO WELL on this. Sang the hell out of it. Really cool how strong she was right after the accident. I know Meryl's version was the original version, and it was very nice, but she just doesn't have the voice that Reba does.
I lost a good friend on that plan:Kirk Cappello (Rebaa's music director/keyboards and Before that Barbara Mandrells music director and keyboard pplayer!!! AWESOME MUSICIAN!!!
I watch this video everyday, and each time i'm awed at what a monumental performance she gave, Reba is absolutely mind blowing, and I'm more than extremely proud to call myself a tweeba, and a dedicated fan for life.
thank you thank you thank you for posting this. I have this recorded live in a lost VHS tape in a box of more than 30 tapes and this clip is the reason I did not trash all tapes until today: waiting to have time to find and save this particular performance!
I think this is one of the most memorable Reba performances (next to the infamous red dress l0l!) because of the loss of her band. Its an amazing performance!! Shes amazing.
Wow! I didn't know that Reba lost her band, what happened? I assume from the hair style Reba has that is goes back a few years. (I'm new to the world of Reba.)
oh heres an old fans of rebas to help ya out. like 8 or 9 members of rebas bacnd were killed in a plane clash, she wasnt on it. she was scheduled to do this song long before it happened and she dedicated this song to them and the whole audience knew and some were even crying in memory of them. cmt had a great interview with her about the plane crash and her decision to singso shortly after
the 7 in her band who were Chris Austin, Kirk Cappello, Joey Cigainero, Paula Kaye Evans, Terry Jackson, Michael Thomas, Tony Saputo, and her tour manager, Jim Hammond. Their memories were honored here, and will be always. Reba's strength is certainly admirable here, as well as the strength of those who knew the 'Crazy 8' the best.

As much as I loooooove Meryl, I don't think you fully understand the whole situation here. It's not about who sings it better.

By far the best female country singer of all time. She's in her 50's and still making music. You go girl.

I Believe Meryl Streep Was Supposed To Sing This Song But Was Unable To Because She Was Pregnant Or Something.
Meryl Streep Performed It In The Movie "Postcards From The Edge."
