2012's answer to "Hello Darling" is "Someone Like You, " sung by Adele. She has the equal of Conway's voice and the equal of his persona as a love- gone- wrong balladeer/. But she doesn't have "Hello Darling's " melody; she has the chords and generic soft -rock dentist office non- melody of "Someone Like You.". The young of nowadays are cheated by the non melodic chord crashing sounds which seem to be the only kind of music they hear.
The present-day country scene just doesn't give anything to chew over.. it's like eating a spoonful of Drano. Sure it'll clean you out, but it'll leave you hollow inside. There's nothing to do, except for hanging on to the past of C&W music..
I stood in line through tornado warnings and severe thunderstorms just to buy tickets to see Conway in Atlanta Ga in 1983 or 1984...I would do it all over again if I had the chance...Best concert tickets I ever bought...R.I.P. Conway...we'll always love you and your music
I agree with maxwelid today country as they call it is not the country i grow up on we need to go back to our real country roots there will never be another merle, conway, george, buck, i thing there could be but the record companys are not looking for them only the big bucks and thats sad so very sad
man call me a dinosaur. But this was when you had steel guitars and it was about real talent. You didn't have to pretty, or have a pop music feel to be on the C&W charts. It was a time when you could tell one great artist from another. They say music always progresses.Hmmmm i think a 100 years from now people will still be listening to the brilliance of Conway and George and Merle and these pretty boys in cowboy hats will only be a footnote in some dust covered history of Great C&W music
@maxwelld1961 not a dinosaur. I agree completely and I'm a lad of 18. It's good today, but it's just not the same. The raw emotion and power of this music is unmatched and can't be replicated. Put a steel guitar and a fiddle in a rock band all you want these days, I Prefer Conway, Willie, Waylon etc. any day
