To bad that you cannot relate to the Christian life and walk. Some day your knee will bow and confess that Jesus is Lord and Christ........................
@cuneeda1950 Facts are provable, observable, tangible events. Not childish, imaginary bully-gods promises or torture, and your sick, obedience to a "god", Yahweh, who ordered rape, murder, kidnapping, adultery, slavery and dismemberment. Then his "son" came along and topped all that with "hell". And you believe all this. Oh well, I used to also. Hope one day you wake up.
@bakersferry No one has ever killed anyone for the cause, or reason, of atheism, or lack of faith in a god. Billions have been enlaved, and slaughtered, for thousands of years, in the name of many gods, not the least , Yahweh.
@bakersferry O.k., search the records, you might find one. I don't know of any examples. Because it just doesn't make any sense for anyone to kill with the motivation that they don't believe in gods. Or in the "name" of the lack of belief in gods. No sense. But billions have, and are being killed in Yahweh's name, Allah's name and whatever god of the century is around.
@lavaxtris1 What should I research more? btw. I said two different gods names. There are thousands and millions of different gods imagined all the time. And all of them are that. Imaginary.
@216trixie what is imaginary is your intelligence. Billions are not killed in Yahweh's name, but billions are being killed because they believe Yahweh is the one true God. Stalin was atheist, and Hitler was very anti-religious in his private writings. Anybody who kills or would kill people because the victim has a religious belief is sick in the head.
@216trixie If you take "billions" as an overestimate (but in our total history, probably not), 6 million Jews were killed was Hitler in WWII simply because they were jewish. Christians were being killed in Egypt not too long ago for preaching their faith to the natives. in 1637, during the Shimabara Rebellion led by a Japanese Christian group, at least 37,000 people were killed under the law of Tokugawa Ieyasu. I could go on and on, and that is just the killing.
@cuneeda1950 He might not even see the face of God. People that experience hell are said to go there instantly, forgetting any knowledge of Jesus Christ our lord.
I've been listening to Keaggy since 1982. What a blessing from the Lord he is. One of my favorites from him is Maker of the Universe. I had the blessing to play/sing a simple version of that song at church recently. I'm so glad I've gotten to hear his music over the years.
Unfortunately that rumor is wrong. The same one but of someone asking Hendrix and with the reply went around forever. From my understanding Phil discredited that one.

That's the best version of this song to date--except for the one he did on the Home for Christmas tour with Kim Hill and Wayne Watson, but that recording was never mass-produced. PK has done it again!
It's about half the song from the "Phil Keaggy and Randy Stonehill; Together Live" DVD. It's without a doubt the better part of it--more entertaining, that is. There is also a CD counterpart of the show.
If you personally know Keaggy, then try this: ask him if its true. Tell me what his answer is. Or save yourself the trouble and read the quote I just posted from him, in which he verifies that it's a myth.
And again, when and where did Hendrix allegedly say this? TV show? Magazine? Or perhaps you heard it thru the urban myth rumor mill like everyone else who swears it to be true?
man are you smoking crack they had it on magazines and tv....i dont know who your trying to fool but he said it..i persanally think hendrix is better but if hendrix thinks this guys is better then i say what the hell to you cuz he said it...its quoted
No, if anyone is "on crack", its you. What "they" are you talking about? It wasnt "on magazines and TV", and I defy you to find even ONE veriable instance of it (you know, like naming the EXACT magazine or TV show where he said it, including the date of publishing or broadcast). Go ahead, give it a shot. Find the ACTUAL quote, word for word, and where and when it was said. Good luck.
You can start by searching Google for the words "keaggy hendrix". Read all the articles it shows.
That is a false rumor, Keaggy confessed. [Hendrix] never really did say anything. It started with one guy who said, Im gonna kind of stretch things here. But, not because of my fame or reputation, but because of Jimi Hendrixs, it took off.
Keaggy added, The rumor has never been verified over 33 years by audio or video, so we just let it go.
It isnt an urban legend. I have a friend that has an OLD magazine with a hendrix interview, I forget the name of the magazine. How he knew who keagy was is another thing. But the fact of the matter is, is that Hendrix toured alot and "ALWAYS" heard of up and coming guitarist, and I am sure he heard of him through people that wwere like. MAn You Have To Check This Guy Out. He did, and the rest is history.
Yes it is an urban legend. If not, then please find out the name of the magazine and quote from the actual article where he claims that. Good luck, because no such interview exists, and Hendrix never said it. Sorry.
It's true that Hendrix considered Keaggy to be a great guitar player. But Hendrix, knowing Keaggy was a Christian, actually said, "He's going to save a lot of people with his guitar." Phil was with Glass Harp at the time, I believe. Someone else can verify that. But that is close to what Jimi said.
Phil has often said that he thought it unlikely that Jimi Hendrix had even heard of him. The 1st Glass Harp album was released in 1970, the year Jimi died.
Forget the myths and comparisons, just treat these two guys for what they are: -
People who think Jimi Hendrix was AMAZING are mostly people jus tryin to jump on his hippy bandwagon and have never even heard him play. He was good...he did stuff that no one else did but listen to it! It was totally impractical and for the most part didnt sound good. Phil Keaggy, Tommy Emmanuel, John Patrucci (no idea how to spell that) those are real guitar greats. Jimi was more of a symbol then anything else.
come on... jimi was just "good"??!!?!.. jimi hendrix was and will always be the greatest guitarist to ever live... don't get me wrong.. phil's up there somewhere too... but don't ever say "for the most part didnt sound good" about jimi's music... everything he did was done with a passion like no other and the music he created was incredible
No, he wasn't the greatest. He was perhaps the most INFLUENTIAL, but skill, musical, and techinical wise, there are a lot of better guitarists. Hendrix revolutionized the guitar, as well as influencing millions of musicians (not just guitarists), but not the greatest. Yes, I agree, Petrucci ( I saw him live 2 days ago...that guy will blow your mind), Keaggy, Gilbert, those guys are the greats.
Hendrix was my favorite guitarist growing up, BUT he was no god. IF you could talk to him now, he would be the first to tell you. I bet he wishes he would have turned his life to Christ.
I can't say for 100% certain, but I'm pretty sure it's just a delay pedal coupled with another effect, maybe an equalizer. But I'm just guessing on that second part.
The legend: phil has said himself that until someone can come up with audio or video proof of hendrix or clapton even mentioning him he wouldn't believe it. He has also said that he doubts either of them even knew him around that time. So as much as it would be cool for the story to be true (I thought it was for the longest time) it's most likely false. But I have no doubt that if hendrix did indeed know who phil keaggy was back in 1967-69, he would realize that phil was the better guitarist.
PHIL KEAGGY SUCKS!!!! VAN HALEN IS BETTER!!!!WHEEEUUEEUEUEUUEUEU...HAHAHAHA.....KEAGGY KICKS ASS DUDE....IDK Y ISA D THAT...I AT FIRST THOT I JUST WANTED TO SEE WHAT PPL WOULD SAY IF I SAID THAT...BUT HONESTLY...HIL KEAGGY IS BETTER THAN VAN HALEN..IDK BOUT HENDRIX THO...BUT I WAS JK ABOUT vh HAHHA
trust me... i like VH too... he's amazing. just in a different way... and so is hendrix. but I think keaggy is more rounded than either of them. he can do everything. but at the same time he's always doing something original. and I think that's what makes him a better guitarist.
if phil keagy sucks jimmi hendrix sucks and if he sucks every other guitarist sucks because if hendrix thought keagy was better them himself but you say that he sucks everyone sucks, see?
radio station: whats it like being the worlds greatest guitarist
dont be envious and talk ugly- jimmi hendrix did say that and also at his last concert asked the audience if anybody knew how to save him. i only hope he wasnt too cool to listen to phil's music
I saw Phil live for the first time at MBI in Chicago, and I can honestly say I've never been at a concert that was so powerful and moving since. This man is probably the best guitar player of our time.
Phil's God-given talent is something to behold. His playful nature on the guitar sounds to me like angel-song. God deserves this and so much more....
thz for the up!! Phil is great and you know how a good man he is just from his music. The other guitarist that give me this kinda feeling is Eric Johnson. It's all their positiveness that flow through their sound.
Keaggy is awesome live. I've seen him twice and got my picture taken with him. He is really super short. Amazing how he can detune on the fly to play the bass riff and then go right back up to pitch. I saw him even sing his own background vocals into his guitar and then looped them while he sang the lead. He had a 4 part harmony going, with the bass, and drums and rythym guitar and lead all at the same time! He makes me sick.
that's nothing, almost any experienced guitarist can detune his guitar and put it back in tune without effort. And btw, I've also seen him live (it is true, he's only like 1.65m high), I've also had my picture taken with him, I've seen him playing both acoustic and electric on the same concert, playing about 7 loops at the same time AND he has played my Les Paul ON STAGE, beat that
I wasn't aware that this was a contest. I guess I'm just stupid and you are the coolest person to ever walk the earth because he played your les paul.....ON STAGE.
Yes, one of the great guitar players to walk the planet! Has been for over 30 years. As far as "fame" goes <me31vp> he's one of the most famous musicians in christian music. If you are referring to "Britney Spears famous"...of course, media will never cover any musician who becomes faithfully religious.
Yeah I read something he said in some guitar magazine about being too christian for the world and too worldy for christianity. Not sure how the too worldly for christianity thing goes with what you were saying, but the too christian phrase definitely does. What you said just made me think of that quote. Anyway, yeah saying he's a great musician doesn't even come close to describing him. Can't wait to see him at Ichthus in June
True, indeed - SlapMasta! Words can't fully describe Keaggy. One just has to absorb the music and it will speak for itself. Soak it in come June. Enjoy.
Well, <me31vp> you don't have to get that good. Be yourself and play what you can. Listen for inspiration but play with individuality. When you play - challenge yourself. The heart holds the truth. Within truth comes progress. Play what you feel and feel what you play. Hats off to ya....
I guess you are right as every artist is different and i am sure that from the way you write you are an artist, an art lover or both. Thank you for the advice.
Wow. Another version of Salvation Army Band. Like the other one, he makes me laugh at how great and awesome a guitarist he is. A great video gets 5 stars, this is one of them! :}~
this song is amazing and phil is so completely blessed and talented. he is a wonderful man and i respect him very much.

I love Hendrix, Vai, Malmsteen, Satrianni, Van Halen, and lots of others, but KEAGGY: WOW!!!! AND He loves the Lord!! Can't beat that!
Mikeart978 4 years ago 2
some things can beat that, mikeart. hendrix is god. there i said it. i'd rather be able to play like hendrix than walk on water...anyday.
aaltman9 4 years ago
you can make a good case for hendrix being the best guitarist of all time but calling him god just makes you sound ridiculous. fyi.

Keaggy uses a Line6 DL-4 Delay Modeler. It has a setting called "reverse". It is a reverse delay.

does anyone know wat pedal phil uses at 2:18 into the song??? its making me crazy
SweetSauceProduction 4 years ago
I can't say for 100% certain, but I'm pretty sure it's just a delay pedal coupled with another effect, maybe an equalizer. But I'm just guessing on that second part.

phil is good, but God is better...

But I have no doubt that if hendrix did indeed know who phil keaggy was back in 1967-69, he would realize that phil was the better guitarist.

shutupandshit 4 years ago
trust me... i like VH too... he's amazing. just in a different way... and so is hendrix. but I think keaggy is more rounded than either of them. he can do everything. but at the same time he's always doing something original. and I think that's what makes him a better guitarist.

PHIL SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PrestonBrick 4 years ago
dont be envious and talk ugly- jimmi hendrix did say that and also at his last concert asked the audience if anybody knew how to save him. i only hope he wasnt too cool to listen to phil's music
abcsaved 4 years ago
I saw Phil live for the first time at MBI in Chicago, and I can honestly say I've never been at a concert that was so powerful and moving since. This man is probably the best guitar player of our time.

Phil's God-given talent is something to behold. His playful nature on the guitar sounds to me like angel-song. God deserves this and so much more....

Phil has traveled with the Behold the Lamb of God tour with Andrew Peterson; it's AMAZING.. check out ANDREW PETERSON on youtube!

thz for the up!!

He makes me sick.
fenderbenderxd 4 years ago
that's nothing, almost any experienced guitarist can detune his guitar and put it back in tune without effort. And btw, I've also seen him live (it is true, he's only like 1.65m high), I've also had my picture taken with him, I've seen him playing both acoustic and electric on the same concert, playing about 7 loops at the same time AND he has played my Les Paul ON STAGE, beat that

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Alright, whatever, hey! Beat that with a stick, put it on TV and see which high-IQ monkey the various IQ-level monkeys think is the best!
Hey, he played your Les Paul! What a lucky moment for him! Couldn't get one of his own, huh? Poor little Phil--so short of stature!
And his little dinky-sized spirit?
What was God thinking?!!!
rascalfareye 3 years ago
I wasn't aware that this was a contest. I guess I'm just stupid and you are the coolest person to ever walk the earth because he played your les paul.....ON STAGE.

Yes, one of the great guitar players to walk the planet! Has been for over 30 years. As far as "fame" goes <me31vp> he's one of the most famous musicians in christian music. If you are referring to "Britney Spears famous"...of course, media will never cover any musician who becomes faithfully religious.
MELanza 4 years ago
Yeah I read something he said in some guitar magazine about being too christian for the world and too worldy for christianity. Not sure how the too worldly for christianity thing goes with what you were saying, but the too christian phrase definitely does. What you said just made me think of that quote. Anyway, yeah saying he's a great musician doesn't even come close to describing him. Can't wait to see him at Ichthus in June
Slapmastaoffunk 4 years ago
True, indeed - SlapMasta! Words can't fully describe Keaggy. One just has to absorb the music and it will speak for itself. Soak it in come June. Enjoy.

unless Britney gets saved of course

It is a shame that artists of this magnitude dont become famous. I play guitar for 12 years and i doubt i will ever be that good. Simply Amazing...
me31vp 4 years ago
Well, <me31vp> you don't have to get that good. Be yourself and play what you can. Listen for inspiration but play with individuality. When you play - challenge yourself. The heart holds the truth. Within truth comes progress. Play what you feel and feel what you play. Hats off to ya....
MELanza 4 years ago
I guess you are right as every artist is different and i am sure that from the way you write you are an artist, an art lover or both. Thank you for the advice.
me31vp 4 years ago
That's because he's been playing for 40 years

Wow. Another version of Salvation Army Band. Like the other one, he makes me laugh at how great and awesome a guitarist he is. A great video gets 5 stars, this is one of them! :}~
