Loved the movie and book, but Dr. Shaheen's view of the Arab-Israeli conflict was off. US taxpayers have given millions to the Palestinians. The government has tended to support Israel, but it has also sided against them on issues like the settlments. To say the US has "failed to support" the Palestinians is too simplistic.

And if he thinks Hollywood images of Arabs is bad he should check out the images of Jews in Middle Eastern media. Not that two wrongs make a right.

Very insightful and sad, but true, Brother. I lived and worked in Egypt in 2001, among and for "Arabs" and was treated with the utmost respect. I met many wonderful Palestinian people there, too.
