Let me put it this way...Satanism is a form of Christianity. It draws it's main strengths from a direct counter-point to all Christian doctrine. Centuries ago the Cathars believed there wew 2 gods: The good and the Evil and you could pray to either depending on your needs. The COS is an atheistic order that uses ritual and symbolism for psychological effect, so if you are afraid of 'devil worship' the only devil you have to fear already resides inside you.
