I'm so excited to be going to London for the New Year's Eve 2011 fireworks show! I have to say though, that although I have not yet been to Sydney on New Year's, I have seen footage of both Sydney's and London's fireworks displays; and while the London one is quite spectacular, the Sydney one might be the best New Year's show on the planet.
And London and Sydney are both great cities, and there's no need for either one to put the other down. : )
London is many time superior than inferior Sydney, you wouldn't know about it if you weren't in London especially in xmas and nye moments, because there they got like the most spectacular Christmas lights in every streets, Winter Wonderfuland, Ice skating rinks in many places etc they also got nye fireworks celebrations in each cities like London, Edinburgh, Manchester etc..
so i'd rather be in London than Sydney in xmas nd nye.
wow it doesnt matter where in the world the fireworks r they are all brill, i just cannot believe we r in 2009 already, i stayed up till 1,35 am watching fireworks on television and outside my house
i wasthere! But never again. I enjoyed it ,but we were diverted for a 40 minute walk to the back view of the London EYE and it took nearly 2hrs to get back to the station.
i have been watching the london countdown almost every year eventhough im a singaporean ..i think the london fireworks still the best i wish i was on holiday and went to countdown over there
It isn't just MY dream. It's been talked about before by the politicians of Australia.
I don't exactly think Australia benefits from being in the Commonwealth, Britain benefits from Australia being in the Comwlth. Brits ask Aussies to help fight YOUR wars.
In World War 1 Britain called upon Australia, Canada, New Zealand, India and other countries in the commonwealth to help them as they could not take Turks by them self. WW2, same thingYou say your military is 20 years in advance of ours? Hardly. We may not spend as much on our military as Britain but we fight as Australia, not a collection of countries.
We now have one of the best armies in the world. Our army isn't that like the US, Russia.
It's called teamwork dumbass, Australia benefits so much from being allies with the UK and the US otherwise you'd be nothing and yes 20 years more advanced, the UK and the US are kind enough to send you our little toys we've been working on. Did I hear F-35?
You forgot an army, the British Army. Your army will never amount to the expertise of any British soldier that walks the earth. Simply because we're more sophisticated, more advanced and just plain out right better than Australia.
You say Australia is nothing without the UK? That's totally wrong. Without the US, maybe, but the UK doesn't do shit for us. They might buy our commodities and expand our economy. That's about it. If Aus left the commonwealth though I'd miss kicking GB's ass at the com games.
Oh and also, Australian soldiers are trained to a higher standard than British Soldiers.
Australia and the US aren't considered NOT close though. The US Army generally rather working with Australians over the Brits. Though the Australia / US relationship changed since Obama's election. For the worst? Only time will tell. Bush and Howard, as well as Blaire had good relationship. Though when it comes down to it, Australians would fight in the defense of the UK (Mainly England, we don't care about the other countries). Just like we fight alongside NZ as much as we hate them.
I'm not saying that GB isn't well trained. You are, though there are areas where Australia is better than GB and areas where GB are better than Australia. Australia fights well in Jungle Warfare, and we were of great assistance to the US in Vietnam, although still lost :p. I don't see the problem with being peacekeepers really. I'm the kind of person though would just like to get in there, blow shit up and get out.
Well Australia has an Army like Britain. Not extremely large, though the training is superior to some other developed countries, and instead of spending billions of dollars on Jets, they spend it on training and only use the best of the best pilots.
Yeah, I think Australia is buying 100 F-35 Lighting II's. Should be good, considering we're using 50 year old F1-11's though they're still a great Fighter/Bomber.
Let me just remind you how your country was formed: we used it as a bin to throw our criminals away. It was founded as a bin, and looking at the population, it is still full of trash. Now take our fucking flag off your rag, and piss off.
This "bin" just so happens to be cleaner than your country. Much could be said about the population on England however unlike you I see through stereotypes and generalisations. Oh, you say it like we enjoy having the Union Jack on our flag... right.
Explain the 50,000 + australians who leave your "country" and pollute ours every year. Every fucking morning going to work all I hear is your disgusting nasal whingy little accents, it just grates through my soul. I can't say I blame them for leaving, I wouldn't like to be from a country who's only cultural claim to fame is "Neighbours" and Rolf Harris.
I personally don't have anything against you Brits but I also realise not all of you are idiots. You yourself probably are a decent bloke despite the fact you openly hate Australians for some reason I'm unaware of.
I do however dislike those who are ignorant to anything/everything beyond their shores.
Fair enough. Actually, it's not a hate, more like sibling rivalry. One minute you love them, next you hate them. It is actually sibling rivalry because my cousin was born in Sydney! Hasn't rang me scince all the bragging for australia over the ashes ;P
Yeah. Well if there's one thing we hate it's losing at sport - any sport, and to you Poms makes it worse :P. We haven't had a good year this year... albeit Cricket, Rugby, Swimming....
What ever helps you sleep at night. Australia has more olympic medals per capita than England and has been beating England at the olympics for the past 20 years.
Australia beat England at Rugby League. I don't see your point. We still have the #1 sporting city in the world, most medals per capita, and highest participation / observation per capita for sport.
I know because i was at Twickenham Stadium where Ozy beat England, guess what who care about Rugby, We are interesting only in Football which is international sport and the entire world love it and obviously we have got world's best clubs such as Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal and more etc. so i want to say we don't care about RUGBY btw England invented that game in 19th century you know?
ill like to go to Australia for the new year fire works , is it good? i was in london at the start of 2009 but there where 300,000 pepeol in such a small place it was awesome but so loud , the loudest iv ever hurd. so i thaught ill try Sydney.
