  • what kind of shirt is that? i need shirts like that to conceal my xdm 40 full size

  • Kahr is a solid choice. The lc9 is also, but that manual safety has gotta be some kinda California silly shit ! Just don't use it. ITS DOUBLE ACTION !!

  • great video, how do you like the Gould & Goodrich holster? i have been looking into them and am looking for a real review from someone who owns one. thanks

  • great vid brother...........very useful to new IDPA shooters..........I'll be referring your channel to our newbees.

  • I carry a full size XD Tactical in the appendix position also - which holster is that? I just got a similar one in black leather but has a belt loop instead of a clip. I would prefer the clip...

  • i belive you skipped the first step in your breakdown list, pulling up your shirt to expose you weapon for a positive grip.

strong side appendix position is my favorite way to carry as well

thanks for pointing out how well one can conceal a full sized handgun under a loose shirt, most people seem to think you NEED a compact or sub compact

i carry my Glock 20 in a Galco IWB and a LC9 in my back pocket, im looking to replace it with a Kahr PM40

  • Is that a MCMAP belt?

  • Great instructional video. I was watching another video and one poster stated (live drill video) ... 'carrying with a round chambered. Stupid.' That was the first time I've ever heard someone involved in firearm carry make that statement. What's your position on carry condition; specifically for the XDm or any other firearm (w/out a specific external safety switch, i.e., Glocks, etc.)? Thank you. Am now a subscriber and will be checking out your other videos. Best to you and team.

  • good vid, nice tatt btw!

  • I like front carry iwb just above my right pocket, but I always have a fear when I'm moving or going to sit down that the gun will discharge somehow and blow off my package... Thoughts? Irrational fear?

  • @SteelCityBoilermaker Not irrational but a more serious problem would be taking a slug to the femoral artery though both seem pretty remote likelyhood if holstered. Do see the article at ITS Tactical dotcom about worn out leather holsters.

  • Is this holster comfortable while sitting with this XD in the holster? Do you drive with this holster and XD inside of your pants?

  • what brand name is this IWB holister?

    ron

  • If you need an iwb just leave me a comment and ill customize you a great holster. I'm one of the holster makers for Shielded holsters

  • @ValorSurvival What prices do you charge?

  • I love the iwb holster. I prefer the blackhawk nylon one. Leather grips the gun to good for me and is stiff when sitting. I carry mine both ways. I have a glock 30 .45 in subcompact which is the key. The sub compact has a shorter handle which really helps with concealment. I wear regular tshirts and even with the double stack mag glock none of my friends ever know that I am carrying. Even if I tell them they cant tell where it is. You did a great video much props from me.

  • Great Video. I don't know if you have answered this question already; I did see someone did already ask it tho; what kind of holster is this(brand). I noticed you using the springfield xd. I have one too, which is why I am asking about the holster. Thanks.

  • Do you practice Aikido?

  • I'm 100% pro CCW, but do all you guys dress like this? I'm in top physical shape, I wear fitted clothes, and I get lots of hugs. Ruger LCP with a pocket holster is the best I can do.

  • @lioneagle86 Same here man. I'm carrying a S&W 642 revolver currently, and all I can do is a pocket holster. I'd like to find a good IWB holster for my smaller body type.

  • @JoshuaJenkins123 Get a custom from Brommeland or UBG. It will take several week to get your holster but it is completely worth it. My Brommeland IWB for my 1911 is perfect. I don't wear nearly as loose fitting clothes as this guy.

  • @lioneagle86 If you're wearing trendy fitting clothes good luck with anything other than open carry and pocket holster.

For most people it's much easier regardless of your physical shape to wear looser fitting clothes to reduce printing when you're carrying.

  • @wtfdudenotcool101

You're right. I've only ever been able to carry my Ruger LCP in a pocket holster with the clothes I wear. I'm a stickler though, I'm against baggy clothes entirely on principal (to each his own).

  • @lioneagle86 Well, you do what you have to. I comfortably carry my S&W Sigma SW40VE, and when I do I have to wear loose clothing, including the shorts or pants. Every garment - shirts, pants and shorts - must be one size larger to prevent printing. But I'll have to buy a smaller handgun - for pocket carry - if I choose to CC while at work since my work attire is business attire.

  • @lioneagle86 Same here - I guess you dress to the gun or find a gun that you can conceal. I'm headed towards CCW and need to figure out what will work for me. I'll have to look into the LCP.

  • @photopixelify

I've carried the Ruger LCP maybe a dozen times during the summer, and it works great as a pocket carry with the Galco pocket holster. Jeans, gym shorts, khakis, cargo shorts, and all fitted it doesn't matter. It looks like a wallet even when it does print. I also have a Talon pocket holster, but that's more for the back pocket.

  • @lioneagle86 Then you're in my boat. I'd hate to say it, but fanny packs ain't just for German tourists...

  • @lioneagle86 well then maybe you should wear baggier clothes

  • @alexrex20

    No.

  • @lioneagle86 sorry brah

  • @lioneagle86 I carry a LCP in my front pocket at times but a 380 is pushing the boundaries of effectiveness. There are some very small 9mms on the market today that are much more effective and you could wear on your ankle with jeans. It all boils down to your priorities. I'm 6' and180 lbs. I carry a Glock 27 IWB on hip with a untucked t-shirt. Tucked shirts have kinda gone out of style anyway. To each his own.

  • @dmitry92203

I ended up getting an awesome Desantis Superfly front pocket hoster, and a Desantis Trickster back pocket holster for my LCP. Completely at home in the back pocket and comfortable as long as you're not sitting on a hard surface, and looks like a wallet in your front pocket. I'm happy because I don't have to change the way I dress just to carry. As far as 9mms go, I'm thinking of getting a Kahr PM9 for IWB with a crossbreed type of holster.

  • nicely done video

  • I ordered a crossbreed supertuck about a month ago. Should be here this or next week. Do you know if I need a gun belt, or will my dickies belt work?

  • Keep up the great videos coming Steve!!

  • I enjoyed the video, thank you. I saw that retort and commented on that too. I have to say to all the folks out in I feel the need for speed land. You must be able to consistently draw your weapon with either hand all the time every time. I do like your 2 o'clock, position. I've done the 5 for over a decade, till I found paddle holsters are nice. Do the drills people. It's embarrassing trying to train people who throw their weapon away on a drill at the range for a wardrobe malfunction.

  • As far as printing issues go I must say I'm happy to live in MN where we have the option for open carry so it just alleviates all issues of having to "completely" conceal. Still prefer to not go open for several reasons, mainly to not draw attention since the whole point of carrying is to avoid confrontation in the first place. Great videos!

  • I think it's important to note that you shouldn't immediately want to re-holster your firearm. You need to be sure that the threat has been adequately taken care of before even thinking about re-holstering. Of course, when the police arrive you want to have the weapon holstered so that they know that you're not the bad guy.

  • I'm new to posting videos on YouTube, but I made a video response for you. I'm not sure if it tagged itself to your video though. It's titled Re: How use an IWB Holster in two Concealed Carry Modes, if you're interested in seeing it.

  • I like the holster and your choice of firearm. I enjoy your videos too, and I think you have some really good advice. However, I just wanted to say that you really don't have to wear that loose of clothing to carry concealed. It does make it a little easier, but you end up looking like you're dressing around a gun and in some cases it can cause issues with accessing your firearm. What if you need your left hand to hold the threat back? I might make a video response explaining my point.

  • Any way to conceal the butt of the pistol? Fast draw by the way. I'd wouldn't want to dual with you ! :)

  • What holster is that and how do you like it?

  • just a quick question. I like the idea of having a 2-3 o-clock holster. However, how does that work when sitting down or in a car? I also have a little more weight on you (arround the belly) so it might be even more pronounced for me. At what positions have you seen bigger guys carry a IWB holster?

  • very good viedo tnx

  • What kind of IWB holster is that Galco?

    Plzz reply.

  • Wicked tattoo on your arm

  • @tacticaltrigger Thanks

    ;)

  • in texas printing is enough to be arrested and lose your cwc....

  • @snmsnmsnmsnmsnm Don't know what fairytale laws you've been reading. Brandishing does not warrant an arrest so printing is definately not worthy, thanks for playing though. Don't post things like that if you have absoultely no idea what you are talking about. After carrying for a couple of years, printing is the absolute last thing you should be worried about.

  • Great video. The first carry method shown is actually pretty comfortable. putting the pistol to the side a bit as he does helps hide the grip. The balance is good with that method, not pulling down your pants as if behind back. I also shift belt buckle to the left a bit so it doesn't stick out. Don Hume makes a nice leather iwb holster like the one shown. That 1st carry method really conceals well, but yes dark shirt and looser clothes help too, along with a compact or subcompact firearm.

  • It it 'wise' and safe to use an IWB concealed holster with a small double action revolver pistol like a S&W 38 airweight since it has no safety. Dont want it going off accidently.

    Thanks

  • This is why Im glad to live in Arizona, we have open carry laws, the cops dont care and neither do the people who live here.

  • @adamslurch71 Better still, since the new law took effect this summer, if you can legally own a handgun in AZ, now you can carry concealed without a permit. You can still get a CCW permit (I'd strongly recommend it), but the new law has definitely made the state a lot more gun-friendly. On the downside, now these snowbirds coming in from out of state probably won't know about the law and will see people packing guns, freak out, call the cops, and cause a big scene... :-(

  • @darkwriter77 and that matters why? the snowbirds do it all the time for other shit. Hell I had one call the cops b/c I was honking at her for doing 35 on the damn freeway. who cares about them, they dont like it they dont have to come back.

  • @adamslurch71 OMFG open carry is awesome!!! especially if you wanna show off lol BAD IDEA!!!

  • @Tux3d0 Wow your an immature little twat aren't you? Seriously you wanna show off with a gun? then go be a cowboy in a rodeo show or something, its fools with comments like this that hinder the ability of others to carry a tool to protect themselves in most situations. A firearm is only a weapon if you feel the need to kill, its a tool otherwise, just a tool that help you survive your day and go home to see your kids. Don't like my logic? to bad, I do.

  • @adamslurch71 Ehhh? i was being sarcastic -.- And I'm serious open carry must be awesome

  • good video but i HATE ADS BY GOOLE .

  • you mentioned "printing" I understand, but what if you have windy conditions and you're printing, ya know the fabric of your shirt is gonna print when the wind blows onto you, or your weapon becomes exposed briefley...the shirt being lifted .... It probably sounds stupid but I would hate to get arrested for something like that...I'm gonna get my CCW soon and I just wanna get it right.....

  • @nascar2w If you have your CCW then 'wind printing' is not something to be worried about. Tho it would be advisable to wear longer/heavier clothing. BTW if you do have our CCW I dont think you can get arrested for printing.

    :)

  • @SafeArmsReview Great Video Steve.. I can say that one of the hardest things to do is pick the proper holsters.. One advantage of the colder climates is the opportunity to train with multiple layers of clothing..

I truly appreciate the continual pushing of the practice needed in being proficient in presenting weapons. Thanks for caring and thanks for the pride you take in addressing the off handed statements made by others..

  • @SafeArmsReview for us unfortunates who live in CA you have to be really careful. If you have a ccw permit and are printing some places/cops will consider it not concealed and get you for open carrying a loaded weapon and yank your permit. We have open carry, unloaded, but if you open carry and your shirt covers part of it they consider it concealed and get you for carrying concealed without a permit then you'll never get one. Greatly depends on your local sheriff or local cops too.

  • @SafeArmsReview do you teach in colorado? If so, how much?

  • @nascar2w If you have a CCW or handgun carry permit, and you're not in a "gun-free zone," you're legal to allow it to print, or even show it openly in many states. Private businesses can ask you to leave, of course.

Most people do *not* pay enough attention to you to notice it, trust me. In fact, I've carried mine with a button-down shirt hanging loosely over my firearm in an outside the waistband holster. The wind blew it open a lot, and no one ever seemed to notice or care.

  • @nascar2w It depends on your states laws, If your state allows open carry, then no it would never be an issue, If No then they'll typically call it an open carry and charge you. Which is TYPICALLY a misdemeanor. In some of the more communist states like MA,NY,NJ,CA you can be arrested if somebody gets "Scared" by your gun. always best to know the law.

  • GREAT VIDEO....

  • I'm glad I found this vid, I just got a new glock 22 and I want a iwb holster. I was not sure as to how exactly they worked but I totaly understand now.

Thanks for taking the time to show us how it's done!

    Great tutorial!

  • Great vid, very informative, thanks! I'm going to be getting my ccw soon and found this very helpful. PS...dig the thug anthem beats playing in the background! :)

  • really?! JESUS

  • would you carry with a round chambered or will you also need to chamber a round in the process ?

  • @wolfcasaday Depends on your laws in your state. In Colorado if you conceal carry you can have a round chambered. However if you open carry you cannot have a round chambered.

Again check local laws for up to date info.

    :)

  • @wolfcasaday If it's legal locally, you should ALWAYS try to carry with a round chambered, weapon on fire, but de-cocked. Drawing a firearm that not ready to go bang is dangerous business, as substantially more time passes from the when you show Bad Guy you have lethal capability till the time you actually do. Could end up in a fight over your own weapon that way. But never holster a cocked weapon, on safe or otherwise.

  • @wolfcasaday As my CCW Teacher told us, CCW an unloaded weapon is about as useful and walking around with a large stick.... But in the end its down to personal preference.

  • Hey, I need to try a good one with a clip like that. What brand and model is your holster there?

  • Whats a Good Holster for CONCEALMENT for a new M1911 45 I ordered? I like the IWB (I think) but Hip Conceal MIGHT work??? Metro Arms "American Classic II DLX $420 /5" Barrel pistol.

  • @HerbWalker I currently carry an M1911 commander frame in the first method he shows in this video. It works fairly well even though I only have a 28" waist. Though, as he mentioned, the key is not to wear close fitting shirts. Dark shirts are less likely to be noticeable as the difference between light and shadow is minimal. Pattern print shirts also help reduce the visibility of any occasional printing, but I just can't get myself to wear that type.

  • i love your videos, i wish i would have found them sooner!

  • At the 3:04 in the review, you place the IWB holster "over" the hip. Does this placement pose any problems when seating in a car, on a chair and so on?

  • @alexblokal Not as much as you would think. Now if I spent a lot of time in a car I would change the position, but when I spend a lot of time walking around, I prefer it there. Just another option to consider.

    :)

  • @SafeArmsReview Thank you SAR, very useful. :-)

  • Good video, good info thanks.

  • Maybe if you didn't use a full size gun it wouldn't print so much. That gun is way too big for every day carry in a concealment situation

  • @Wingman813 Maybe for you but I like my piece and I know others who have full size firearms as CCW. Its all down to personal choice & I usually have a bigger shirt that whats in the video.

    :)

  • @SafeArmsReview I have no problem with a full size. I carry a Tauraus pt92 as my carry. :O

  • Nice tats Steve..

Whats that.. the 182nd street crips?

  • @p20 Na, nothing that gangsta

    ;)

  • @supergringo86

Why you don't carry 6 or 2/3 o'clock if you are left handed?

  • Thanks Steve, great vid!

  • Thanks man. This is a great video.

  • Thats great for when you are standing in your garage. Go have a seat, see how that feels. Also, don't be afraid to fire with your pistol close to your face, it aids in gun retention, you aren't shooting at the range in a real life situation, maybe you do not have 3 feet to extend your arms.

  • Good points to remember.

Now this video is about IWB holster & concealed carry, its not on tactics. If you watch my other videos you would see I fire from the draw, high ready & extended positions.

    thanks for watching.

    :)

  • @AntJoCac - I went to your page to find a video showing what your talking about and surprisingly I found no uploads.

  • i perfer this type with my 1911,,,,thank you,,great vid.

  • I would of liked to have seen different types of holsters in regard to concealment.

  • Thanks for another great vid!! I too carry IWB with my xd. I use the crossbreed super tuck deluxe. Has been a great product and they even offer an NRA member discount.

  • Great video thanks man. 5*

  • this music is ill!

  • Absolutely good video. Thanks for the contribution and great info.

  • Thank you for the informative video. The leather holster that you have in the vid, who is it made by?

  • Your welcome

The holster is by Gould & Goodrich

    :)

  • I have an XD9 and i have been looking for an IWB, would you recommend this one or is there another manufacturer you prefer? thank you for your advice.

  • actually the best thing to do is to go to a good gun store, try out a bunch and pick the one your comfortable with.

Most leather holsters are pretty durable, so it really comes down to personal preference.

    :)

  • Good video. I would revise this to add DOWN & SCAN for other targets PRIOR to re-holstering.

Muscle memory is a strange thing...would suck to engage then re-holster when there is still a threat.

  • Good point indeed - this was just a how to wear it vid & not a full bore what to do tactics class.

Thanks for bringing it up tho = good stuff.

    :)

  • Wow. Great clip. Thanks for the informative video on IWB and for the effort in its production quality. Great job. I'd love to see more like this. How about your thoughts on a Tuckable IWB for a CBOB 1911 and also your thoughts on what the best concealed carry pistol holster combo is.

    Thanks!

    SA

  • The best holster is the one your most comfortable & can engage threats with.

As far as 1911, I dont have one and prefer the XD 45 or the 9mm (so far).

    :)

  • That XDM seems like a lot of gun to be carrying appendix style can you sit like that ?

  • I know some guys who carry full sized 1911s like this.

It all depends on what you - try a bunch of different techniques and use the one that your comfortable with and what your daily activities consist of.

    I hope this helps.

    :)

  • This is one of the best videos I have seen. Very good. Still looking for the suggested size of weapon to carry though. Its like Ford or Chevy. Everyone has a favorite but no solid advice.

  • I have found that its best to find and try before you buy. If you have range where you can rent firearms, that will greatly help in the decision process. Nothing worse than purchasing a firearm, then finding out you wanted something a little different.

I hope you find what your looking for.

Thanks for the compliments & watching.

    :)

  • Something I do while re-holstering is getting in the habit (muscle memory) of placing my thumb up on the rear of the slide while pushing it in the holster to avoid any potential for the slide to move back and feed a round, unlikely but under stress could be a possibility :)

  • Now that is a good tip - I will have to give that a try = thanks a bunch.

    :)

  • would you do this even if you hadn't emptied out you gun?

  • Hi, for me its not a case of if its loaded or not really, I just got in the habit of doing this while re holstering an unloaded weapon,by instinct now my thumb automatically "assumes the position" :)

  • i was just wondering its a good habit though. thanks

  • great video safearms, you covered some important info, thanks

  • Great vid, as someone here said I too am not built for some meathods of carry being short(5'9 and 225) i have bought alot of iwb holsters trying to find that right fit and am down to 2 the summer comfort for my para carry 9 and the infadel by comptac for my pm9

  • As always, great job Steve.

  • Damn Steve Gangster !

  • Dang it--you beat me to that one! Gletty is such a clown, but makes great YT comedy.

    Steve--keep up the great vids!

  • I like your videos. Also are you a concealed weapons instructor? I am just south of you in Pueblo West.

  • Good stuff, Steve. Personally, I carry using an IWB holster in the small of my back (Springfield XD40 SC in a Galco holster).

  • I have one more comment to make about carrying from the front. From my personal experience, I tend to find it comfortable when stand or walking. But sitting down or driving it will tend to press against the leg. Also walking as wind is passing you will reveal the pistol as well. IWB from the hip carry works best for me. Sitting, walking, and drawing the pistol you'll find to be more natural.

  • I have done the hip carry too.

I guess it depends on what I am doing. If I do a lot of driving I dont like the hip carry cause the seat belt clip gets in the way and I dont have access to the firearm as I do in the front.

What I like about the front is that you can wear not as loose clothing as when you do the hip carry. What is cool is that there are so many options when using the IWB.

I just might have to do another vid showing the hip carry.

    :)

  • What brand is that holster?

  • I carry more toward the hip. I've tried various postions and techniques and I find my hip method to be the most comfortable and least amount of printage. If you saw how he was carrying from the back side. If you placed you IWB just a little more toward the front just past the side belt loop. You'll know what I'm talking about. I find wearing black shirts or shirts with prints or designs help conceal the printage of the firearm. SAR, you should try out my method.

  • thanks for the helpful tip - it is something I will have to try. As you know I am open to new techniques.

    :)

  • What brand is that hoslter? I'm in the market for a new one.

  • I use a Galco W/ belt snaps and I tend to center it right on that belt loop at the outside sem of the pant. Kinda where it would be if it were in a duty belt I also try to wear printed (hawiaan shirts) or black shirts. i also try to wear a shirt that isn't QUITE as long as SAR's so I don't have too much to get out of the way.

  • Yea...I keep a glock 26 on me with a basic blackhawk iwb holster. So it's not TOO big, but it's chunky. I'm 5'5" so I have to still wear baggy clothes anyways. Most people know I carry. But they always ask if it's on me. So I know my technique is working. I want to upgrade my iwb. I'm looking into a desantis iwb with a retention strap. My gun jumps up and down when I'm jogging an running. Definatley don't want it to slip out. Especially during a fight.

  • Thanks for the great info
