  • so are you going to throw at the bin the 1.5 tb drive?

    In the resilvering process do you need to have the old drive. What if the drive that needs a replacement is totally dead?

  • @FotografIasi The 1.5tb is under warranty, it wil get replaced.

    You don't need the old drive for the resilver; it can re-construct the data from the other two. If my droning voice doesn't send you to sleep, look for the videos on ZFS 1 and ZFS 2 and that'll show ZFS working on USB sticks, and I think it is ZFS 2 that shows each 4gig stick being upgraded to 8gig in turn.

    I kept the old drive in the loop so that the system would change its designation; made it easier to replace.

  • @FotografIasi You can still do the replacement. It builds the data from the other two. I just like to do it this way for safety.
